I have recently got a trial licence for Itrain

I have tried for hour's to get it to connect but it won't

First, do you have to have both the Cs3 and the PC connected to a router

Info from CS3

IP address 192.168.1.157
IP Network template 255.255.255.0
IP Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS server 192.168.1.1

How ever when I have checked my IP address I have been given a different number 61.68.137.164

How is it possible to get so many different number's and which one do you use

The Itrains manual is totally useless as far this is concerned

You need to have the CS3 and the PC running iTrain on the same subnet.
Your PC should have a 192.168.1.xxx address before they can see each other.
I have iTrain running with a CS3.

No. Wired and wireless devices can still communicate with each other. My CS3 is connected via cable while my laptop is connected via wifi and my software connects to the CS3 just fine. As Per mentioned, the important thing is that they should be on the same subnet (i.e. both having 192.168.1.XXX addresses)

how are you determining the IP address of your PC... it should have 192.168.1.xxx number too. You may have multiple IPs if you are connected to a VPN or something.

Can some PC's, and tablets be set to choose a different I.P. address with each start-up? My cheap Amazon tablet does it, and it can randomly not be connected to the wyfi, and it does not auto re-connect.
Not that this would be a reason, but just trying to help. I don't have my CS3 on a LAN full time, nor the wyfi. I don't have good reception in the basement to add a second router.

I need to explain some thing I am using the demo that comes with a licence and according to the info that comes with it you can use it to run a layout but the layout size is limited to
the same as the demo

For some reason it simply isn't picking up the connection I have used the same IP address and I have tried all four of the IP addresses I have shown and it still won't connect

For some reason it keeps telling me either the IP address cannot be found or it comes back with " Socket Not Open "

I have read also that the port No that it automatically enters 17300 is a dangerous port to use because it is quite easily hacked

The IP address the 192.168.1.157 as this the address it picked up when I connected the CS3 to the Marklin Web Interface

So that is the IP address you can see on the cs3 screen in the settings, once it is connected to your hub?

What is the IP address of the PC? It should also be 192.168.1.??? to be able to connect to the cs3.

Yes, the connections can be by wifi or by a wired cable connection

For your purposes you need to have all devices using addresses on the 192.168.1.x network, i.e. from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254

I'm assuming this is your PC you're referring to. If your PC has a 61.68.137.164 address most likely it has been set as a static address, i.e, someone has set that address manually on your PC. Or as has been suggested you might have another interface, perhaps from a VPN that uses that addresses.

You need to be using an address that isn't one of the 4 you mentioned. Plus, 255.255.255.0 isn't a tcpip address, it has special meaning which I won't go into here. The other 2 addresses, if you used those on your PC you would have a conflict with the device already using those addresses.

If you currently have a static address, try changing your network adapter's TCP/IP v4 properties to DHCP (Obtain an IP address automatically). This should allow your PC to pick up an address on the 192.168.1.x network, which will then allow you to connect to your CS3 with iTrains.

Try that, then tell us what address your PC has - open a command window, type ipconfig /all, hit enter. Take a screenshot of that and post it here. We can go from there.

Thank you for all your advice

I clicked on a tab called " Client "

Then a day later I turned on the PC and then the CS3 and low and behold it started

It also has added all my locomotives from the CS3 on to it

Just to let you know that 61.68.137.164 is the TPG address for the PC
