Hello,

Does anyone know the part# for the rear lamps used in the 43258 set? Found someone selling them online a while back, but lost the information! Thank you I1q71F.jpgWL079-Maerklin-43258-3er-Set-Schnellzugwagen-Berlin-Hamburg-der-DRG-Modelleisenbahn-Modellbahn-ankauf-8.jpg

Hi Philip,

I checked my set paperwork - nothing.
Also checked the parts lists on Märklin.de but nothing.

The term 'Schlusslicht' is used to describe the lamps on that car.
Perhaps use that to search eBay.de
I wonder if the term 'oberwagenlaternen' might find it too.
That is the word used by Märklin to describe the lamps on the 43256 set post wagon.

regards
Kimball

MARKLIN 4316.jpgVIESSMANN 5069 B.jpgWEINERT 4206 SINGLE LAMP.jpgHello Kimball,

Thanks for the reply... I have done a search on ebay for "Schusslicht" and "oberwagenlaternen" without much luck, but I should also try laterne, or schlusslaterne, I suppose... I have found however a similar topic here:

https://www.stummiforum....uchtung-f-r-M-rklin.html

And the supplier, but without much in terms of instructions for the novice...

https://www.firma-staerz...p?sub=produkt&id=108

Also someone else using Marklin original parts...

http://www.ralf-bueker.d...cht_Schuerzenwg_oben.htm

On the other hand, I am very surprised to find nothing else here on this forum...

I believe the original lamps that fit 43256 (two car set) and 43266 are Marklin E214147 and circuit board E214146... Apparently, there are also other components needed, but I don't have any reference part numbers for them yet... I also cannot find these part numbers from Marklin, so probably they're old discontinued numbers... If anyone has the new numbers, please forward the information.

A deeper search yields Lamp kit Viessmann 5069 found in the video below...

Also found another Märklin part number for a lamp, E309980 that fits 4316 baggage car, but no luck finding anything in the US so far...

Lastly, I found a single style lamp made by Weinert with the # 4202..

You may want to wait until the coach set that goes with this years first Insider Br06 comes out. It has a set of tail lights like those.

The booklet for it won't be put on the website until the coaches have been delivered, same with availability of spares.

You must mean the new Märklin locomotive 39962 that goes with 42265 coach set. Too bad 39962 does not come complete with period insignia... I just joined the club and I am waiting to hear from someone Monday...

the part numbers seem to be correct, or rather E214147 and E214146

The lanterns seem to be in stock, but not the circuit board.

they are interesting I will order some to try out. :)
Thanks for the tip, Philip

maerklin-4411-gedeckter-gueterwagen-m-schlusslicht.jpgtLzxmJ - Copy (2).jpgMARKLIN E214147 LAMP and E214147 Circuit board (2).jpg

Hello BPH,

Thank you for the part # corrections, I have edited the post..:) As for the lanterns, is it safe to say that E214147 is the same as E309980? Regarding the circuit board, I have to review your two help links with the aid of a translator and see if there are other options... It seems that the one part number once available from Märklin, E214146 is very different than what I see on the link on Stummiforum inside 43266 postwagen...

On the other hand, I am running the old M-track and would like to know if I can simplify any of this, since I am contemplating adding lights to some of my newer carriages, but it all looks a bit complicated so far... Could I do something similar to the old Märklin 4411 closed wagon? I imagine it has a much simpler set up inside in terms of the rear lamp...

Hello Philip,

Definitely a new set up for rear lamps on this coach.
Completely different to those on the 43266, 43256, 43258 etc.

The new style lamps are similar to those used on the Pwg 46986 and in set 48829.

MARKLIN 4316 w E309980 lamps.jpg48829 lamp set.jpg

Hello Kimball,

I see that these lamps are now L/R with the numbers E346292 (L) and E346296 (R) whereas the ones for the coach sets are the interchangeable L/R # E214147, but somehow not listed under the parts lists for 43256, 43258...

Yet, there are the lamps for 4316 baggage car, # E309980 which seem to have more detail than the E214147 lamps and are also interchangeable L/R... Still, the mystery remains for the part # of the rear lamp for box car 4411...

Hi, E309980 is probably different from E214147.
there is a picture of a 309980 here: https://www.modellhobby.se/sv/vagnsdetaljer/65689-marklin-lamphus-for-personvagnar-marklin309980.html
the picture makes sense when you take into consideration the types of wagons Marklin used it on.
but please note that I'm not sure about this and the information from Märklin is scarce.

The E309980 on 4316 seems to be replaced with E166350 on later editions eg in 43131, 43141 and 46900. and in some wagons E166350 is combined with E166348 led board.

note that the LED are on the circuit board (same with E214146)

E346292 (L) and E346296 (R) do have a withe light in the forward direction, red backwards. (at the same time).

Hello BPH,

You have certainly more knowledge than me, I am just a novice getting into the hobby, and frankly, it would take me a while to retrofit any of these into a wagon, since I don't know much about electronics or computers... It would make sense that E309980 is probably different from E214147 just because it is an older design...

Now, the interesting thing about E309980 or 309980 from the Swedish website is that it does not have a the orange/red plastic insert... What is the part number for that? At least we know that E166350 is a complete assembly and it is combined with E166348 which is still available, so they probably can be retrofitted into some modern coaches...

Very interesting detail about E346292 (L) and E346296 (R) with lamps being white and red... Thank you for pointing that out...

Back to wagon 4411, I thought I had a shot of the inside which shows it is a completely different lamp, and perhaps if you could find the parts, it could be easily retrofitted to other older wagons without a circuit board...

Hi

I must say I am impressed by the beautiful rear lanterns of the DRG you have presented.
I must insist that on ebay, you may find very luminous LEDs of SMD type (roughly a cube of less than 1 mm in size) they are prewired with ultra thin enameled wire
Here is an example
SMD LEDs.png
Prices vary between 5 and 15€ for 10 units
The beauty is you can install them on any car or any gate crossing
Cheers
Jean

Hello Jean,

Can you do a complete tutorial complete with parts list for installation on an older wagon? For example, you need, bushing E326740, or contact sled E414940, etc..
