Hi all,

A friend had a delta decoder go bad in his 28971 glassbox. I was going to replace with a lokpilot 5 micro, and I was curious is the experts saw any issue with using that in terms of current draw etc when using for HO scale, but such a small locomotive?

Insight appreciated! I was going to go with this once since I don't see one with MM format available in the US:

Thanks!

You have linked to the DCC only version of the Micro, i would use the non-DCC only version, which will have MM and (probably) mfx capability. Otherwise this should be a perfectly suitable decoder I think.

Hi John
You have 2 options:
- a cheap one is to use an mLD3 with cables 60982
- a more expensive solution a sound decoder loksound 5 micro with cables 58813

Here is my Glaskasten (A Märklin Festzug 28972) with the ESU sound decoder and replacement of bulbs by 2 colors LEDs

All fits in the cabin but it is quire crowdedBigGrin
Because I don't have an ESU Lokprogrammer I asked the supplier (MSL Lippe in Germany) to program the BR98.3 sounds.
Cheers
Jean

Thanks all! I need to dig into it for a look, I prefer the ESU decoders to the marklin ones, if anything for standardization and color codes. My father runs an intellibox so its no worries what goes in. I'd have liked a decoder which does both, but they seem eternally out of stock (or not yet produced in the chip shortage...)
