Hi everyone. A few days ago on YouTube a new video was uploaded by maerklinstore . It was a video of the 37609 Metall TEE.

I've never heard of it before. Is it a 2012 New Item? Or is it from a few years ago?

I'd like to find out more information on this model. Does anyone know anything else about this fantastic model?

Cheers!

Tadzio.

Hi Tadzio,

37609 was offered in 2002. Only the basic-set with two heads and two middle cars was produced. Not the additional cars.

Regards

Markus

Thanks for your replies and info. on this set. Do you know if this set will ever be made again?

If it is, I'd love to see it with mfx sound and a full 7 or 8 car set.

I'm a bit of a TEE addict. I love my 37607!

Cheers!

I believe that we will not see again this livery for the VT 11.5 and we will not see additional cars too.Anyway, the train drives perfect with the four units.Because of the great weight additional cars are
a little problem for the right behavior of the train.

Those are special one-time series they do for new moulds - so it should not come again.

It seemd a good idea a few years ago to make special versions in unpainted finish for new metal bodied locos. AFAIK they haven't done this for the latest models.

I'm not particularly interested, myself. I've always thought I would feel like painting the model at some point!

They did it for the BR 50.40 (#37049). Not sure if they did it for BR 23 or BR 39.
They did it for BR 38.10-40 (#00380).

Thanks Tom,

The last one I could remember was the Br 38. The set you quote contained two models, one new tooling and one old, if I recall correctly.

I was not aware of the 37049.

Just some info about the 37609, it was produced in limited quantity (the dealer needed to purchase 5 or 6 of the 37605's in order to order just one 37609 set)and they came with a metal matching display case that has a picture of the factory in the background.. From what I know, there were only 3000 of these produced worldwide.. The cost in 2002 was $1400 dollars for the 37609 and the display case.. The problem today is that you can find the 37609 for sale on auction sites but you do not find the set ( train and display case) for sale together. The set together is truly a beautiful set.. One of the very best that Marklin has ever produced. I have the set that I bought in 2002, nice piece, never run except for a test to make sure that it was OK.

Every now and again you see the 37609 set and thanks for additional info and welcome mrrnut!!

I had a long hard look at this when I got my 37605+43115 (my second or third train I think) but got
the 3514B and Metall Rheingold 4228 set instead. They also did a Techo BR 96 - 83496 I think. Photo of 4228.
