Are there any sources where you can order traction tires (with adapted wheels) for the Marklin Miniclub diesels/electrive locomotives?

There was a supplier in the USA offering wheels, gear and axle with the wheels grooved and tires supplied. This was a few years ago when I ordered a trial sample, it worked out phenomenally expensive with unit cost, postage, duty, etc etc and although it worked very well I didn’t repeat order. Can’t find it on the web atm, will look for details and post them when I find them. ChrisG

I think that's how it works (I haven't tried this myself), he may sell the traction tires separately - drop him a line.

The very idea of replacing traction tyres on a z scale steamer is the stuff of nightmares. It is hard enough doing this on H0... |

I machined grooves for the tyres myself. I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you have machining experience. You really need to have a lathe collet and make it to specially clamp the wheel.
Actually putting on the tyre is easy. The rest of it is the difficult stuff and will be very costly as you will initially destroy a few wheels.

I hoped someone would have started a business so you could buy grooved wheels ;)

Has anyone ever tried using the "spare" Rokuhan rubber tires that they sell? Wondering if it's worth the experiment to just see if they fit our current Marklin wheels? Here's an example of what I mean. https://www.rokuhan.com/...sh/products/accessories/Item: A033 and A034

Just use some 4mm 2x heat shrink tube (don't shrink it) and stretch it over the wheel with some pointy tweezers.
Put a steel ruler on top and flatten it and cut off with a top quality scalpel blade like Swann and Morton 10A blades.
You will have more than enough out of a length even at 1 in 20 success rate. Watch out that the heat shrink tube has even thickness. Cutting off to the right length takes a fair few goes to get it right.
Your actual problem is that you need to machine a very slight recess into the rim so the tyre doesn't work its way off the wheel.
