So 1962 I was ten - and I used to like Matchbox toys - particularly lorries. BUT we used to play with things like this in the sand pit and throw away the boxes so I shan't look in the loft!

Rwill, I wish I would have bought that one! My little collection did not survive either.Crying
In 1962 I lived in the states, Seattle WA USA, my local hardware store had a small countertop match box diplay case and I would save my allowance and do work for my grandma and make thoughtful purchases. But the real event was to go to on holiday to the toy stores in Vancouver BC Canada, just 150 miles north, where they had full wall size diplays of Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi...Laugh

I think I had one and it might still be in a box somewhere. One or two other Matchbox models as well. Models were sized to the box so they all varied but this one looks as if it might be quite close to HO.

I still have my Matchbox vehicles, including a well-worn Matchbox City “layout” to go with them. Mind you, they all show the effects of heavy use/love — except the King Size models that I took especially good care of — but I can’t bring myself to part with them.

Yes I still have my Osram lamps lorry purchased in Australia about 1960 ish.

I dont have the box.
The front wheels are missing.
The name Osram Lamps has been scratched off the sides.

Hi All...

I wish I knew the value of these items then. I too had a collection of Matchbox, Dinky and Corgi vehicles, and I wis I had kept them. God knows where they are right now.

Cheers,
Ranjit

Now lets all not get carried away - its is only the very late versions of the model dated 1961 with black plastic wheels that attracts the rarity value. The conventional metal wheeled version (1956 - 1961) even mint and boxed has kept pace with inflation but not much more say about £25 at most £80.
