I recently acquired a DB BR 185 loco in HO scale. It is two rail and appears to have a factory fitted decoder, although the wire colours do not conform to NMRA standard. The box has an original label which says" Marklin 29841-01V2 (MMC) E-Lok BR 185.1 mfx.

The PCB is marked 145. with what appears to be a part number of E200704 and a 21 pin decoder is installed. The decoder itself has no identifying marks. Manufacturers ID is 131 version 9. JMRI reads out the name of the decoder as "Trix sound HO BB12000" but that is just what a programmer may have put in to identify the decoder.

As sound is mentioned, and there is a location to fit a speaker in the chassis, I wondered if anyone could provide connectivity details and if an additional sound decoder or amplifier was required. Ideally an instruction booklet for this decoder.

Appreciate your assistance

This is a Märklin 60942 mLD mfx decoder.

No Sound

If you want sound you must replace this decoder with a sound one eg 60977

THE wire colors are the Märklin color code

Thanks for ID'ing the decoder, where can I get an instruction sheet for this, the Marlkin site seems to be hard to negotiate and I could not find a manual for this

You can find more information about the PCB on https://moba-hgh.de/modellbahn/d...-db-ag-traxx-1#details-3

Solderingpoint A15 and A16 is for the speaker.

I think that this chassi is made for a round speaker, and then the 60979 Märklin MSD/3 is the best option since it comes with the correct speaker. You do not need to change to the PCB that comes with the decoder. The PCB you have in the locomotive is more advanced. AUX3 is logically controlled so it allows you to connect for example long distance light or cab lights that are turned on in the direction the train is set to move. The AUX4 solderingpad is postioned in the middle of the PCB since it is also used in locomotives that have the cab in the middle.
