Hi all,
I just recently won a bid on a Marklin Maxi Sound Tender 54594. My first sound tender.
It didn't come with the sound trigger magnets. I can't find any info or pictures of the magnets.
When I search Ebay for Marklin Maxi magnets a bunch of LGB magnets come up.
Are the LGB magnets the same as the Maxi magnets? Do they work the same way?
Can I use an LGB magnet with a Maxi tender?
I read where you turn it one way for the bell and turn it the other way for the whistle.
Can anyone provide a picture of the magnet? Can I just buy some hobby shop magnets
and stick them to the tracks? I don't have the track up, it's going to be mainly just a Christmas display.
Any advice where I could buy Marklin Maxi brand magnets?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

They are not the same as the LGB ones. The shape is more square and they have some flanges to mount them to the track.

You can find a picture of the magnets here:

Unfortunately i do not have a part number, but i guess a generic magnet will work ok. You just have to mount them at the right height to let them trigger the reed switch below the tender.

Thank you so much for the response.
I finally get to see what the magnets at least look like.
I'm surprised they are not on the ebay market.
You would think people would want extra magnets
to make their trains whistle and blow at different points along the track.
LGB certainly has a bunch of their magnets on ebay.

You would expect that it is a separate accessory. I have a maxi sound tender too (54590) with two magnets. I looked in the manual for you to see if i could find a article number. Unfortunately it isn't in there. The magnets itself also don't have a number printed on them.

I recall that there was a gauge 1 loco in the '80's (br38?) which also had a optional sound tender. Maybe the magnets where also a Märklin part back then.

The picture you linked to, was that two magnets stuck together?
Or was that a single rectangle magnet?
I couldn't tell with it in the plastic bag.
