a quick observation: Hobby locos have a 3 pole motor whereas expert models have a 5 pole motor., Hobby locos do not have rubber tyres but expert models have 2., with Hobby locos you will find they have globes instead of led's,

Some Hobby locos have rubber tyres.
I have to check, but I think some Hobby locos have LEDs.
I didn't count the poles of the motors yet.

None of my hobby locos have tires. Best to check before buying. Everything other than that is fine.
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

The first BR 182 and the first BR 185.0 I bought came without traction tyres. I paid €30 for each, new from dealer and with decoder. Well, yes, it was several years ago.

All my BR 101 models have traction tyres, so have the vast majority of BR 182/Rh. 1016/1116 and BR 185.0 locos I bought later.
Wheelsets with traction tyres are available as spare parts, so early models can be updated to the later series standard.

I checked the 2021 New Items brochure. Some Hobby models have LEDs; some Hobby models have traction tyres, at least the AC versions. The BR 218 Hobby models still come without traction tyres, it seems. When converting DC locos to AC, you may get more models without traction tyres.

I wonder if the Piko Vectrons have a long coupler shank/pocket like the 3600 series Marklin's do? This poses an issue with the front coupler hnaging up on tight radius turnouts and ramps.
I think that is why Marklin revised the coupler mounts and added a a guide mechansim on the new ones coming out now. Is C track less forgiving than M track was on above said rail joints? I had a few derialing issues until I slightly nudged a curved track leading to a turnout and ramp before screwing down. Long passenger cars (11 1/8") also derail.
I also had to remove the leading bridge ramps to the inclines. Too close to the turnouts. My M track layout had the same leading grades. No derailing usually. Could it be the rounded vs. square rail top not giving wheels enough play to slide through if not almost perfect?

To the post above: I have the latest Piko Vectron (the DSB Danish Railway model) and it behaves well even on the problematic places I have on my C track layout. Nonetheless it's true that C track can pose problems in some combinations with non Marklin gear.

My Vectron is a Marklin 36182. Actually, My Roco 303 mm passenger car takes the C track rather well. My Marklin roling road 3 wagon consits was also derailing. I have to try since recent adjustment.

I just took a look at Marklin's Rolling road wagons. They seem to have an awful lot of wheels on each bogie!! If the wheel spacing from flange to flange is a bit off I can imagine the problems.

This guy here has a long train with Rolling Road wagons on C track. The title means: The Rolling Road in Basement Town.

True, but after tweaking the tracks and turnout alignments, no problems! At least the axles are close together.
