I'm making plans for my new layout and an looking for suggestions. The area I have is approximately 4'x 8' (120cm x 240cm) with some wiggle room if needed. My only want is a double loop so I can run 2 trains without interruption. I am currently looking at Noch's Mittenwald track plan https://www.noch.com/en/...ut-mittenwald-81610.html which will suit my needs, but I rather sure there are members here that have their favorites for recommendation. Thanks! Chuck

I knew a German man who was a machinist for Pontiac Motor division engine plant. He had two large Noch pre formed layouts together in an L. It was really nice. He ran it on 220 vots, all M track. I don't think anything was digital, but that was many years ago before he passed. If it was digital, he had the original Motorola central unit and control 80f. I don't recall any memory keyboards, but there were the blue control boxes. He sold it all to a guy I knew who was born in Frankfurt., but an American since childhood. He loaned me the ICE 1 to run at home. I don't even remember if I connected it to my alalog trafo or my 6021.

When I returned to the hobby, I was attracted by port scenes, like the track plan "Am Hafen" on page 54 in "Das Gleisplanbuch - Das C-Gleis" by Maerklin. Inspired by the latter, a 4x8 ft layout could look like this: Construction is rather easy. The absence of tunnels, diagonal orientation, double-track double-train operations and the long bridges add visual interest. Uphill grades are 5% when climbing on the outer tracks, i.e. operating in German right-hand mode, but no problem for the rather short trains to run on such a layout. |

Or something completely different for 4x8 ft. A rough sketch without such luxuries as easements at the beginning of curves. Two separate levels which can be operated independently. Both levels are connected via wyes and a bridge. Like that trains can be turned in either direction. both levels l upper level lower level |
