I got theses to install on my Wuttemberg coaches, but the coupler pockets don't have slots for the contact springs, nor will the contact strips fit under the floors or align with slots. Plan B was to put them in my S bahn car set. There is no slot in the floor which lines up with the contact termina to allow it to go through the floor either, nor do the coupler pockets have slots for the contact springs. I thought perhaps the contact hangs over the front of the coupler pocket, and the coupler makes contact when pushe into it, but that doess not look like it will. Are these new couplers only for newer modern cars?  Thank's in advance.

It may be they were designed before Marklin introduced the conductive couplings. Which specific catalogue numbers do the coaches have?

Hi
To light up these Wurttemberg coaches the kit 7333 is advised. No provisions are made for current coupling. Those cars are fragile (extremity railings and roof latches tp the body
To use the current couplings, you need to get length of very thin and flexible cable (preferably black) and make a tiny solder on the copper extremity (pocket side, opposite the coupling.
Then you slip the wire through the pocket and then clip the current coupling.
Then connect the other side to the lighting device making sure the wire does not interfere with the full coupling movement nor the wheels / bogie

Alan, the S bahn set is 4389. Instructions say in German and picture that the draw bar type fits for sure.the 7021 coupler instructions only show car types that the diaphragms secure the body. On these, the roofs remove. The interior only comes out with the body.
Jean, thanks for the tip but no, I won't be doing that to the Wurttemberg cars.

If it weren't for shipping fees, I'd return these. Maybe I'll install them in my Roco 2 rail d.c. cars, or order a couple new ones from Marklin that have the new coupler pocket that accepts them.
