Quite simply, is it normal for the Telex to buzz when activated?
I recently purchased a 3047 BR44 and when I operate the Telex in analog, the coil buzzes. I have several digital engines with Telex functions and none of them buzz with the Telex function is activated. I think this is because they are using DC to energize the coil whereas in analog operation the coil is getting AC voltage.
Thanks, Chuck

Come on now! ...I know you folks have plenty of Telex locos. Are they buzzy?

I have two. Both digital. A br 51, and a br 360 diesel. Slight buzz. I think analog ones are a but louder, like a reverse unit buzz on an older loco.

Yes , my one does buzz.
I think that it is similar to the Uncoupler Track buzz when you activate it. My guess is that the buzz probably comes from the AC sine wave where the voltage swings from positive to negative through the zero position.

I don't have a 3047; but I know than any electromagnetic device on AC will buzz more, if just a little dirt or rust is preventing the iron parts to close completely Per. |
