OhMyGod unbelievable warehouse full of Every scale, every brand of European model trains.Marklin USA models too if course. The man may live on a farm. Didn't say if he ever had a shop.
Everything is in original boxes. No way he ran everything.
Rey says if you missed any models over the years, it just might be in this collection. They offer complete consignment service, an layout building.
Search massive train collection Reynaulds YouTube. They are located in Woburn Illinois.

I viwed the first lot of marklin items from this collection on consignment. Even if new in box and never ran, seem very expensive. One example, an 37080 br 10 mhi from 1999. They list it for $480 US. I know I did not pay that much in 2002 for it brand new. One is on Ebay in Akron ohio in excellent like new condition for $250.

Youtube video referred to above can be seen here

Link to the Reynaulds consignment site.

I'd agree, some of the pricing is quite expensive - for example $40 USD for a 4419 Pepsi refer car.....

Now I'm very curious about the back story. Rey, the video host said the owner likes his privacy or ananymoty.

I don’t think the items are on the regular consignment page yet. I have the following as the link from their email on the topic.

$350.00 for a 42751 set is a little too much... especially when Koll’s has it listed at 75 Euro. (I don’t think I paid the equivalent of $350 in Marks when I purchased mine new in ‘97: my guess is they’re using the original Maerklin North America price list.. which was always a bit steep)

Some of those items are on the regular consignment pages, but the prices on both the regular consignments and these items all appear very steep, as in new Euro price translated to US$ price at current exchange rate.

And on the regular consignment pages some items have incorrect photos.

They charge more it seems for everything. Sometimes worth it, if an item is in stock. I do buy new from them, and still have a few items back ordered or new items from Roco awaiting release and delivery to them. I am often able to beat their price from another shop. Emailing or calling to haggle is time consuming. They do have a rewards program though, which helps with the online sales Illinois tax. Their shipping is nominal too, on average of $15 per order. They are next door to a US post office. Next stop is usually the Elk Grove village USPS distribution center near Ohare Int. airport, so only an extra day for overseas orders by air.
Items sent out of state from Texas, or Florida no tax. Their database macros do not list if an item in or out of stock, only if no longer available.

I just found a copy of the North American retail price list from 1998 and that 42751 set was listed at $195... still more than the DM equivalent at the time. While some items may appreciate over time, I don’t think this particular set is one. I freely admit, however, there are times when I’ve overpaid for an item because it was a “must-have.” I’ve also underpaid in some cases, so in the end, everything kind of balances out. I’ll keep watching Reynaulds listings... who knows: there may well be an item I can’t live without ;)

There is one on eBay for115 euros, and one set sold on Catawiki for 71 e. Is it similar to the set that had prime minister Adenours salon coach?

To my earlier point re: anonymity, it isn't my place to speculate or talk about the owner if I am correct, but he is (was?) just another train nut like the rest of us. (with the means to acquire!)

Those prices are comical. But reynaulds have always been like that with the consignment stuff. Will be interesting to see what happens if it is all sitting there in a year with no bites at 3x market value. (and the really rare/interesting stuff already cherry-picked) That is a lot of trains taking up storage etc etc....

Great fun to see it all regardless.

I have had quite good service from Reynaulds, and I am not a searcher for best prices, as I do not buy all that much any more. I also do not begrudge Reynaulds for their consignment fee percentage, as they are cataloging the collection, gathering the info, posting the items etc., and storing the whole schlemiel. If they do have something that I might add to the meager collection that is mine Love ...I might just cough up the dimes for it. Who knows, at this point, early in the game? Cool

Rey says their item databse is 35 years old, so they know what things are worth, but in addition to their fee, there is a limit to values. Many collections go to autctions, and this is perhaps a reason why. Like estate sales. Can you haggle? Auctions may have a reseve, or not. You see this often with classic autos. If one lists a reserve, if the bid is not met, it doesn't sell that day. No reseve, and it's open bidding from the starting.
