Marklin scheduled delivery date of 39785 was January 2021.
It has not changed the date announced at the website till to yesterday., but today I found the mark had turned into red from yellow. I am sure the status never turn into green.

What does it mean ? Does anyone have idea for this ? Thanks

Why do you think there is something wrong? Some items are sold out at the factory before the first batch ships to the customers.

Hi Shannon
There seem to be an error on Märklin side:
* their website says Sold-out check dealers
* key dealers in Germany (MSL, Meises, Härtle, Moba Voigt) ALL say: novelty, reservations possible, not yet available

This happens sometimes and Märklin corrects their Website

I am not an expert but I believe most dealers "reserve" the items and quantities they need at the beginning of the year, after the novelties are announced. They have priority.

And very often it happens that, especially for items in high-demand, the quantities produced are "sold-out" (meaning they are pre-reserved by dealers) before even production starts.

And in some cases I have heard dealers were unable to order the quantity they wanted because not enough items are manufactured (this is usually the case for items announced as one time series in limited quantities - 999 or 1999 pieces - and in order to make sure all dealers can have some in stock, Märklin limits the quantity that can be ordered per dealer).

In this case it can be an error on Märklin website or it can also mean production is finished but all items are already pre-sold to dealers and will be shipped to them very shortly (it can take up to one month after production is completed for dealers to receive the items).

I believe this model are strong limited.
It is same way by of Roco with some models that already are sold out by factory.
Also due to covid-19 most models are so late cause of lockdown.

Hi
Just checked the Märklin website, the loco 39787 (BR 78) is available at Märklin w/o restrictions
The difference with the 39785 (not available anymore but in the 2021 new item leaflet) seems to be the status date 1969 instead of 1965.
I don't see any significant difference: same body, different serial number, etc. It could be Märklin is "hiding" a manufacturing change.
Quite frankly I was surprised Märklin would play a game of "special limited edition" on this number so loved by Märklinists
Cheers
Jean

The 39785 was a NI 2020 item, not 2021, so is probably totally sold out at the factory as stated by the product page.

The 39787 is NI 2021 so not in stock at the factory still.

Well Märklin German website says it is. Available for you to purchase now
What you say makes sense, the 2020 production run sold quickly so 39787 is a sort of re-run

Before anyone complains, yes, the camera work is pretty lousy. It is a new club layout and trying to keep up with the loco, watch where you're going, keep the camera steady, aiming the camera correctly and do the panning properly, looks like it is totally beyond meCrying Crying . I can tap my head and rub my stomach at the same time, but that's about itBlushing Blink LOL Laugh .

Please try and enjoy the video.

Please notice the difference between 39785 (BR 078) and 39787 (BR 78) marked by green circle.

That's the INDUSI unit, related to the INDUSI magnet (another difference between the two).
