Hi All

I have just been informed that my order for 47461 COOP container wagon set has arrived. BigGrin

maerklin-h0-aae-containerwagen-set-coop-3-tlg-werkseitig-ausverkauft.pxEGmPXhdmNNonbXJREICA.jpg

I have seen these on my travels in Switzerland pulled by a private 460 or vectron, they are never mixed with other freight. What i want to know is, what is the length of the train, would we get a consist of only 3 wagons or am I going to have to buy a second set.

I dont understand.
You say :
"I have seen these ..... they are never mixed with other freight. "
So you must have seen how long / how many wagons ??

As a "ganz-zug" they would be as long as needed only limited to the general lenght of a freight train
and short-wise the finances would decide.

I would go for as long as your layout permits, and do remember that freight trains are generally
longer than a platform at the station.

Only short freight trains I've seen in SBB/CFF country is the mail express with perhaps 3-4 POST containers or post-wagons.

Depending on the ERA there could be short express freight trains that had to run
no matter how few wagons were slotted to the train; i.e. milk transports.

Hi Tim,

I ordered two sets to have a total of 6 cars.
The train has been pulled for the past few years by one of the RailCare Vectron locomotives, as they are partially owned by Coop.
Prior to that, RailCare was using BLS Re 425 and 465 and before that, they had leased a quartet of BR 186 from Railpool.
Maerklin does not make any of those other than the BLS Re 465. Roco had models of the Re 465s in RailCare liveries.
Piko has the Railcare Vectron and they also had models of the BR 186.

It might be interesting to see if Maerklin brings the RailCare Rem476 this spring or summer.

After watching many COOP container trains on Youtube I would say that there are only double container wagons.
Unfortunately the Marklin double container wagon is too short, it accepts only 20' containers, and these are about 24' long.

Thanks all,

I was only able to get one set as there is a very high demand, my shop ordered 30 sets and all are already sold. I have some "Green" cargo containers (47722) which I will run with these to extend the length of the train.

and this proves that you are allowed to do ANYTHING on your layout.
You will always be able to find at least one time IRL where something odd happened.

The 47461 is a "Bauart Sgns", or so M claims. Which Sgns-type is not stated.
The 47461 is Lüp 22,70 cm which scaled up from 1:87 should be 19,75 meter.
The Sgns 60' is 19,64 m Lüp, which in 1:87 is : 22,57.
So the model is 0,13 cm too short - I wouldnt be too unhappy with that.

The Sgns 60' can take 1x60 ft, or 2x 30ft or 1x 20 + 1x 40 ft, but actually NOT 3x20ft

Tim,

Roco released the 76915 double container car with Axis containers. AFAIR there were supposed to be the type used by Coop/RailCare.
If you still want a second 47461, try Zuba Tech, Suter or Bahnorama or ebay or see if you can find these containers which can be used with Herpa's 084192 adapter: https://www.swissmodelle.ch/coop-rail-care/

I think Mabar also had some SBB freight cars (Schiebewandwagen) leased to Coop.

Hi Mike

I have been checking around the various shops in Switzerland and have found other shops with COOP wagons, but I have also found a variation in price from 230 chf to 189 Chf !!!! (the 189 has no more left).

Tim,

I was able to top your 230.- Stucki lists 239.-
Modellbauland is in the middle at 219.-

I wonder if that is the type of item that FCW would stock?
What about Coop?

Tim,

I had earlier told you that current trains for Coop are operated by RailCare (Vectrons). Today, a photo that contradicts this was published on Drehscheibe Online:

Photo: https://abload.de/img/p1230840oujf3.jpg

A Re 4/4II red pulling Coop containers. I don't know if this was a stand in or whether RailCare has leased at least one Re 4/4II.

I love the Roco double container wagons. Quality great, Vietnam sourced. I got the Kombirail co. One in blue with Schenker euro cargo containers. I watched a few YouTube videos and consists are a mix if all types. In terminal freight is global. Trains run from the ports everywhere through Europe up through the Chunnel.
As for Swiss cargo, the locomotives are red/blue, a few with different livery. RE 420, 421, 620, class 185, Vectrons, etc. I run what I want together. My consists, my r.r.
