Hi.
I received this locomotive included with a bulk purchase of vintage Lionel trains. I researched it and I believe it's early 1900s American Outline, but I can't find what model it is. There are a lot of 0-4-0 models, but none have the three window cab.
This loco may be the one that pulled the Congressional Limited Passenger Set. I've also seen it attributed as an R3041.
Another interesting piece of information is that it appears this loco was once green and has been repainted black (unless the green was used as the prime coat).
Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
I'd like to sell this loco, but I want to make sure I represent it accurately when I do.
Thanks,
Bat

Hi Bat,

It is indeed a 1 Gauge loco - American outline as evidenced by the large windowed-cab, the area for the bell (which has broken off), and the front where the cowcatcher would be instead of buffers. It could have possibly pulled some American cars but I believe it's later than the Congressional Limited set which was sold in the early 1900s. I think this loco is 1910+ just based on the design. Overall a nice loco that could easily be fixed up!
