Joined: 20/11/2010(UTC) Posts: 32 Location: New Zealand		Hi everyone, Does anyone know the difference between the original Marklin 7294 transfer table and the updated 72941 produced since 2012? According to the Marklin catalogue the main difference is an update to the colour of the transfer table, and I suspect that the plug connections have been updated to the new style plug. However are there any other differences? In particular has the (notoriously loud) motor been changed or updated? Has anyone had a chance to compare a 7294 directly with a 72941? Richard

Richard Isn't the 7294 for M-Track? According to the 72941 web page (manual available there) it is suitable for direct connection to C-Track and/or K-Track.

As you said, the only difference appears be the colour and maybe the plugs. There are some very quiet operating tables on youtube but they have been upgraded with a motor unit from SB modellbau. Both are still designed for m-track, but adapter tracks for k track and c track are available. I've heard that one way to make the transfer table quieter is to operate it with DC current rather than AC current - has anyone tried this? Are there any instructions for doing this online? Richard

The reality is the motor in the transfer table is a cheap unit, and upgrading to a better quality unit is the best was to get results. That said, I have a brand new 7294 sitting in my cupboard. I could plug in DC tomorrow and report back. Cheers... Mike

Richard Hi Richard, I did a quick test on the 7294 that I have, with DC power driving it I didn't hear any reduction in noise. And the unit I tested is a new old stock unit that has never been used, so condition was not an issue. If you are looking at buying one and the noise is something you want to minimize I would suggest getting a second hand unit and buying the motor upgrade from SB modellbau I have used there products in some steam locos and results were fantastic. Out of interest how did you drive the transfer table with DC - did you just connect a 12V DC power source to the transfer table instead of the usual AC feed or do you need to by-pass the rectifier?
