Hi
I own a set with locomotive 3005 steam engine since 1975 from my father.
It works fine, never maintained!!
One lamp front is off. I found the spare part is 60000, correct me if I m wrong.
Next, I am looking for the rubbers of the wheels, no code for this in marklin .
I also want to know if there is a spare part for the consumables in the motor , those 2 little carbons, if they exist in my model
Finally, I need maintenance instructions because the loco smells like old motor oil when hot.
Thank you my new friends.

Hi Socrates,

Welcome to the forum,

You will find many folk here to help you.

We can reply to all your queries accurately with a little more information.
If you have the box that the locomotive came in, what number is on the box?
Also a photo of your loco would help.
Failing that, just details of the road number written on each side of the loco cab and/or the front of the loco boiler gives useful data.

Regards,
PJBigGrin

Hello again Socrates,Smile

On reflection, after checking my Koll’s Catalogue, I felt that whatever the version of your actual 3005
probably may not influence your required spare parts information.Wink

So here is a reply after some search, if you are sure you have a 3005 loco (similar
appearance to this 3005 loco on my layout):

UserPostedImage

Unfortunately none of the old Märklin Catalogue spare parts pages describe those for 3005, nor do
contemporary listings of spare parts or "exploded diagrams". From Koll's, we note this
loco was produced as early as 1954, but only at 1959 and perhaps after with "3005" inscribed thereon.

This older "exploded parts" diagram for 3005 is available:

3005 manual.pdf (847kb) downloaded 145 time(s).

A more useful reference for older locos is here :

http://www.maerklin-sammler-infos.de,

Where it is noted for 3005 (with google translation):

Traction tires: 2 pieces 7152
Grinder: 1 piece 7173 (20157)
Grinder adapter: 1 piece 20383 (DA800)
Grinder adapter: 1 piece 200870
Pantograph: not provided! not provided!
Light source: 1 piece 60000
Motor brushes: 1 set 60030
Direction switch: 1 piece 20824
Shift slide spring: 1 piece 7194
Coupling front: 1 piece 20381
Rear clutch:
Use of smoke: not intended! not provided!

So, in summary answer to your specific questions :

One lamp front is off. I found the spare part is 60000, correct me if I m wrong
60000 is correct and currently available as such.

Next, I am looking for the rubbers of the wheels
Marklin spare part 7152 (currently available as such)

I also want to know if there is a spare part for the consumables in the motor , those 2 little carbons
The 3005 brushes (FCM) are a carbon rod and a copper fine mesh roll : Marklin spare part 60030, now
listed as 600300 (currently available as such)

Finally, I need maintenance instructions because the loco smells like old motor oil when hot
One of our forum members who is talented and widely published has produced a number of useful
instructional videos. Here is one he made on maintenance (including engines) which you might find helpful
(although the subject engine is a Drum Commutator Motor whereas the 3005 is a Flat Commutator Motor,
the same principles apply) :

Once again, welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas.Smile

Dear PJMarklin,
First of all, I really feel safe in this forum. All the information provided is accurate and well verified.
I will order the spares and I will consult the tutorial for sure.
This train bought by my father, I was born in 1974 and I remember since my 3rd year around 1977. Now it s time to prepare it for my children.
The value of this product is priceless for me.
Once again, thank you and happy holidays!

The spare part which was provided you need to add a "0" at the end and sometimes an E before the spare part number
