Brawa has confirmed this.

The loc is the black br 06. Year 2001/2002

If your loc has also a belly.

You can call Brawa and you will get a new hood.

Which locs are going to follow?

Neither is coming out of this well.

Pre-WW2 Hornby Dublo suffered from what you call zincpest. They managed to solve the problem in the 1950s. How on earth are new models suffering from this fifty years on? Their customer service may be excellent but they should have been able to avoid the problem in the first place.

Just like most electrical appliances. China is not in itself an excuse for poor quality. The problems come when a manufacturer uses a cheap supplier with poor quality control.

A good Chinese-made item is no different to a good item made elsewhere in terms of quality. I bought a stupidly cheap pocket watch on ebay a while back which keeps time to within thirty seconds in 24hrs. Chinese made and cost under £10 including postage. It's not as pleasingly heavy as the Russian one I also have but for the money I can't fault the standard of finish.
