I only have two of these... the 1998 and the 1999 cars... It's a shame that so few of this cars come to Portugal... so I kind of lost interest in collecting them all... just have those two for the fun, and run them around at christmas time...

I am missing Johns 93 and 94 have the rest. Set them up at Christmas and Pull them with the Christmas painted 120 Loc. here is another 1993 car for the US Market which I have  |
NOt wearing the Pink Pinny, which is hard to see and now I have a white Pinny which also is hard to see against MY pure white Skin Still have 2 new shiny tin Hips that is badly in Need of Repair matching rusting tin shoulders

I have from 1997 to present.
The styling changes in the newer ones are not so attractive as some of the older ones (to me).
I use my 37186 S3/6 blue steamer to head up the "Christmas Train". I set it up on the mantle each year, It is almots too long.
What do others do with their Christmas Cars ?

There are two threads on this topic, I will continue with this one because it's more correctly in "Collectors Corner" (rather than the other post in General.... https://www.marklin-user...s-Items.aspx#post249313)I finally received my 2011 Wagon from Noel at Nathan's Trains & Toys QLD yesterday, my oldest daughter gets me one each year after taking the role over from her Mum. I made a very quick a lo-res video of it in the train. Sorry for the poor quality but better than nothing. Although I've only been in Oz 2 years and 5 days (but who's counting), because of the delay in dealers getting these out here I now have three years of wagons, plus the BR120 Loco from 1995 which I obtained from another forum member last year. Also I have several of the preceding years' wagons back home in storage but now it looks like a half decent train and the BR120 runs so nice and smooth. I'm not yet quite sure how I feel about the 2011 item. * It's rather 'plain', but is a very nice deep 'Xmas Red'. * It's longer than the more common SWB wagons of recent years and has a Brakeman's hut - always popular. * The load is a dozen gold coloured 'baubles' (decorations) such as you would hang on a tree. 6 small ones which fit in the wagon ok, and 6 larger ones, too big for the wagon but really a bit small for a tree. Of those, half are shiney/gloss and half are dull/matt On balance, I think I like it. Well, I KNOW I like it, but it must be harder and harder each year for the House of Marklin to come up with a new idea. Not unlike the Magazin Wagon. I wonder how many years in advance they have designs for? I know themes like this are not everyone's cup of tea but I like this one, along with the Magazin wagons, and my "HP" and general I.T. wagons. Collecting to a theme can be fun. Thanks for sharing those piccies John, a few made their way to me but I lost interest as some of the later ones did not do much for me. I skipped 2006, got 2007 and none since. I have the Herpa Christmas Train, which has 2 numbers on the box, 26528 in brackets and then in much lager type 151603. I use the Red BR 10 Insider model 37082 and the Christmas e-loc 37353. This year I will also use the Blue DB 10 (BR 10??) 37081 or my 39569 Snowy Krok. Here are a couple of really awful photos  Jeremy Palmer attached the following image(s): |

My oldest daughter gets me the Xmas wagon each year, initially her mother was getting them for me but when we did the divide by two, said daughter took over and it's been a regular thing. There's only about 4 of the annual ones I don't have, early in the series so I must make a concerted effort to get them. Anyway, she and her tribe are up for Xmas, and hopefully may have this years one with her - I don't know what the 2020 one is and I never look for it to enjoy the surprise even more. But she asked if I could get the others out and indeed, I have never previously had them all out so I've made three consists and a short video of them on my shop layout.... The lighted one is stationary in the yard because the pickup shoe does not like my double-slips. I have them pretty much is order year of release, except I realise for of them are back to front. I've also not completed all the loads, the stakes/stanchions for example are still on their original extrusions, likewise the candles are still in their pack and a couple of others that are safer still in their packing than risking any handling damage. But I'm sure you get the idea. |

I have all the Christmas wagons from 2010 to 2019 with 2020 on the way - one for each year since the divide by two! I also have the 2003 wagon which was one of Peter Lemmon's and obtained from the MMRC. Now and then I run them all with the Christmas BR50 steam loco.

Don't look over here in the Rolling Stock thread then Cookee ... Nice display on the layout, I could imagine that running like that in a shop window to the joy of every small kid wandering past. now you just need to get the Christmas Br50 and Br01 (or is it Br03?).

The earlier one is a Br50, and has a pre-msd/3 decoder, and plays one tune (O Tannenbaum), the other is a Br01 or 03 (can't remember which) and has an msd/3 decoder (least I believe it has) and plays two tunes (O Tannenbaum and Silent Night IIRC).

A slight departure from Märklin, to show my LEGO train under the tree this year (copied from my FB posting)... A Xmas tree is not right without a train. Last year, Jade got me a LEGO train set which had to wait until her return from the UK so we spent the past few nights assembling it. Definitely felt the spirit of Steven coming through Jade "you're doing it wrong"! Lol. Here with Brenna & Austin. And a real bonus surprise at the end (sorry about the poor sound quality, my little camera is getting tired) The reference to 'Steven' is for my late Son who was absolutely LEGO mad. He would think this quite acceptable. |

I don’t collect Christmas wagons, but I have purchased a few. And they make a nice little Christmas train together with an BR 81 (30322). K.Bay.Sts.B. class B VI and 43984 Passenger Car Set also make a nice display.  I plan to upgrade the BR 81 in the future with an mfx decoder. And since a dedicated Christmas locomotive is not for me, I will probably add some of the Christmas songs from the Märklin Christmas locomotives. I’m in no rush since it is factory fitted with a 6090x decoder and high efficiency motor, so maybe before next Christmas 😉 (so far I have just added NEM telex couplers to AUX 2 and 3)
