This is truly a minor thing (given all the other stuff going on) and I even hesitate to ask, however, I have gathered a few of these wine wagons in various dress from various sources. They all say "Bordeaux", Märklin on the frame bottom, and then:

1. no data board at all
2. blank data board
3. 308 on the data board (in a 4510 box)
4. 4510 on the data board (in a 4510 box)

Primex also had a few "Bordeaux" versions in their 4546 range.

If one felt the need Blink how can one tell the difference between Märklin and Primex wine wagons (other than the CIWL Primex one (which I do covet...) - that one is easy, I think LOL )? I have also seen a few that have a data board with printing but no number (although I do not have one of these...) Confused

It is probably simple (and perhaps a bit of my CDO is showing Laugh ) and has been mentioned before...I just do not have the "search algorithm" skill to find it...Blushing

Thanks all for such a great group! Cheers!

p. s. I do have a 4910 kit still in the original box unbuilt Cool
p. p. s. I also realize that there a manufacturing differences that crop up all the time, and this might just be one of those things with no real answer, but thanks again if that is the deal!

Hi Jimmy
Here is my first Bordeaux car (#308) dating 1951 with "blunt" axles in front of a 1947 Märklin catalog

Bois Refrigere.jpg
It is in company with a long wood wagon (Langholtzwagen supermodell) (361 G)
and behind a low-sided gondola (391) and a tipping truck (362)

Later the same Bordeaux car was relabeled 308 1 in 1956 with the decal showing 308 on bottom left
It became 4506 in 1957 (still with the automatic coupler) but with needle axes (better rolling) and the decal shows 308
In 1958 it received the advance uncoupler and relabeled 4510 (4510 shows on the decal bottom left)
It stayed in Märklin catalogue until 1978

It was also available as a kit under 4910 for a number of year after 1961 and recognizable by its plastic buffers and splint to attach the coupler

It appears in Primex in 1979 under the 4546 reference (the indication board does not show the reference) with Relex metal coupling and needle axles and stayed until 1980
Then it disappeared
Cheers
Jean
