A rather snotty feature the Herald has introduced in recent times...

However you can find non-paywalled atricles (and quite often the same ones the Herald tries to charge you for!)

Plus an earlier one on Stuff from 2018.

Wikipedia page. Apparently the building was reopened in August 2019.

Thanks for the links Bigdaddynz, useful info there.

Yeah, its a shame nzherald has gone paywall, but I refuse to pay up, getting enough from the head lines and what articles they do allow full access to.

Yep.. It is PayWall Land over here too.. I get all my news from the ABC (abc.net.au), which is still free.. Smile I am also aware that news.com.au does not have a PayWall, but I feel that it tends to be of a lesser standard than the ABC..

Nice job on that station.. Smile

Hello Alan,

take the original not a paywall.Smile

It is the website of the Kiwi Mr. Peter Macky himself.

https://kaiserbahnhof.com/

Where is this railway station? (JWD = janz weit draußen - as the Berliner says. JWD means pretty far away from Berlin for a Berliner. LOL).

It is the village Halbe at the railway line Berlin - Cottbus- Goerlitz (Today better known of its local centre Brand with the "Tropical Island" in Europe.Laugh

https://www.tropical-islands.de/en/

The railroad line:

I have been there about 26 years ago. It was really looking bad, although it was not a big surprise for myself. At these days everything in East-Germany (the Ex-DDR) looked very, very bad and were in desastrous worst conditions. Nice to see the restored station now at the Kiwi's website again in excellent conditions. Watch the flags on top of the station.BigGrin Kiwi ante portas!Laugh Time to go there for another visit. Also Halbe is famous for its history over centuries

and the final battle of WW II.

Wolfgang

Thanks Wolfgang for those links.

I note a picture of the Bahnhof in the wikipedia page on Halbe, looks like it has some scaffolding at one end, so picture presumably taken during the refurbishment work.
