My absolute favourite:

The "Modelleisenbahn Hamburg e. V." in the Hamburg Museum in Germany (not to be mistaken with the nearby "Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg")

1200 meters of „Spur 1“ track, 250 switches on 250 m² run by the association "Modelleisenbahn Hamburg e. V.". Opened in 1949; rolling stock, track, buildings and a contemporary scenery are mainly 'homemade'. Daily operational sessions demonstrate 'real-life' operations on the mainline between Hamburg-Harburg and Hamburg Central Station.

Great videos. I really enjoy my classic analog HO Marklin but the weather here is great and too nice not to be outside as much of the year as possible. My brother found a huge batch of Gauge 1 tracks and turnouts for a steal at a flea market. Has got me thinking... If only the locos and wagons weren't so expensive. Also enjoyed the video posts of the garden railway under construction under another topic yesterday.

Great pics and video links. Gauge one can be quite expensive, but check out the old Maxi line up. A few of those are much more affordable. And if narrow gauge is your thing, obviously second hand LGB can be had affordably. Mike

Here is my LGB 2120 Stainz on my raised outdoor line. I am planning a seperate gauge 1 line that will be raised as well, hopefully next year.

Sad announcement by the "Modelleisenbahn Hamburg e. V." in the Hamburg Museum in Germany (not to be mistaken with the nearby "Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg"):

"Hamburg's biggest modelrailway in 1 Gauge must be demolished at the beginning of 2023 due to the renovation of the Museum Für Hamburgische Geschichte.

The management of the "Stiftung Historische Museen Hamburg" and the "Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte" are currently planning to redesign the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte. At the beginning of 2023, after more than 73 years, MEHEV's historic transport model railway will have to be demolished and rebuilt in smaller premises and in a different form, which will change its previous flair. Take the opportunity to experience the still existing, meanwhile historic model railway layout at its present location in operation."

I contacted the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media. They kindly informed me that the MRR club owning the layout has finally found a possibility for storage. They admit that it will be a great effort to build another layout in the new premises after the renovation of the building.
