Now i have seen your video twice and to me there are no noices that should´n be there, but when you are running your Ae 6/6 the noise from the pickup shoe are clearly more destingt than from the Be 6/8.

Let's keep it simple.

I could hear a ticking sound at the beginning of the video. I would give that loco a really good inspection checking the pickup shoe and all gears.

Sorry, I can't hear any abnormal noise. I agree with Darrins suggestion about an inspection.

You might get another indication of where the noise is coming from if you hold the lok in your hand and connect power to it. Caution: Don't drop it.

Good hunting.

I heard a faint kla..kla.. at the beginning of the video just as the 6/6 was about to stop.

As a I recall though, this sounded similar to one of the random sound effects that the Loksound decoder played on the model if it has the engine operating sound ON but you left it idling on the track.

Does the sound happened if you turn off the engine operating sounds?
Now collecting C-Sine models.

It does not seem something in gears, (nor in spokes), because its frequency would be greater, to me. It seems something that concerns the shoe (it repeats at every contact pin) or the wheels (it repeats at every revolution).

Hi Smile
it looks like you have the Mega starter set "Gotthard" (2007), I have exactly the same loks. Your 6/6's sound is different from mine and I definitely don't have this strange "cla-cla" noise when it stops. Normally, the sound samples which are embedded should be standardized. Have you checked nothing is wrong with the power shoe?

Gee, what kind of decoder is in the crocodile that makes it stop so abruptly? I also believe that the strange sound made by your A 6/6 arises from the friction of the pickup shoe and the contact studs on the track.
Best regards,
Armando García

The problem with the Ae 6/6 is definitely the slider.
Make sure it is not bent or slightly out of alignment.
I have had this problem with a few loks that had been taken out of the package for inspection (by dealer or by customer) and then put back in the box before it was shipped. Sometimes I replace the slider, other times, it can be straightened out and fixed.
One thing that you can check, does it make the same noise in both directions? What happens if you remove and install the slider reversed 180 degrees?
Visually check the slider once it has been removed and make sure that both ends are level when the slider is sitting upside down on it's base. If one end is lower than the other, this creates uneven pressure on the contacts and results in the click click noise each time the slider hits a pin.
If you have another lok that has the same slider, try exchanging them and see if the problem migrates with the slider.

Good luck

Mike C

PS, next time you want to send a video about train noises, please disable the sound function so that it is easier to spot. This also helps eliminate the sound module as a possible source for this noise.

I had the same sound on one of my locos, caused by the slider. It was slightly bent upwards in the middle. I cured the problem by bending the slider carefully back into a straight line.

Armando, don't you recognise the traditional signal stop at an isolated section? The sudden stop is because there is no power in that section, that's why the lights go off at the same time. It has nothing to do with the decoder.

Being digital locos, the most easy way is to remove the insulator from the track, and the two red wires from the track, and stop the loco with the throttle.
If you want an automatic stop, you should install a breaking module but it is more complicated.

Ilija, I could be way off on my answer for you. but The Loco seems to perform without a flaw. I noticed the sound generator was on. All AE, and RE series Swiss loco's in prototype use the SLM compressed air spring crank propulsion system. Just possibly, Marklin reproduced the sounds of the actual sounds when the Loc starts, and stops. If you can get ahold of a Gotthard bahn video, these Locs are shown in it, and you can hear the real sounds.
