Good morning, I've been using these couplers for some time but am not at all satisfied with how they work. Difficult to couple together most often than not.
I recall somebody mentioning somewhere about RS Components couplers but can't find them. Has anybody any clue about these that can point me in the right direction ? Please ? Do they still make / sell them ? Thank you Marco

Hello Marco,
probably you mean the RTS couplers.
They are the same as the Märklin couplers before, because RTS was the supplier of Märklin. Since a few years Märklin is producing different current conducting couplers, which are basically the same as the Märklin 7203 non current conducting ones.
the former RTS / Märklin couplers hat a smaller head.

I have a small number of the RTS version you are referring to. I can pop them in an envelope for you. What is the difficulty you are having with the 72021?

Hi TW, sorry for the late reply but I'm seeing your message only today. Thank you very much for the offer. They should arrive sooner or later, I ordered them from Marklin recently. Marco

I have been looking at these couplers over the last few days. Basically they are the standard Marklin 7203 close couplers with the pre uncoupler cap removed and a 2mm wide strip of copper or brass shim fitted through the slot and shaped . see a close up. The design suggests that it wont easily couple with another without some force. [ because of the interference fit of the electrical connection, and, once you understand that, the coupling becomes an asset which enables you to uncouple a consist easily, rather than the solid coupling that can be supplied ] In most cases, you would not be shunting a passenger consist anyway.
