Hello, I recently picked up a 29845 starter set off a local buy/sell which comes with the 6021 controller. I have read through the manual and I have the dip switch settings on the back set to Universal (2-on,1,3,4-off). I can put a loco on the track and it drives fine. The main function button will turn the lights on and off. The other function buttons (f1-f4) do nothing. I don't have the LED light up above them and the train doesn't respond. The V160 is supposed to have horn sounds but they do not activate. Did I do something wrong or did I get a bad 6021? Confused

Thanks

Never mind false alarm it was operator error. When I turned on the 6021 I thought I had to press the "L" button before the address number. Tried just putting in the address number and so the "L" and "F" buttons are lit up. Now the functions work properly and my train has a horn.

Cheers

I think you have the switches set wrong, my reading of the manual is you need 1, 2 and 3 on, 4 off. Then the side with the loco address that you control the speed from should also have the functions available.

By pressing L and F you can assign different addresses to F1-F4 and F0/speed.
By pressing L you turned F off and F1-F4 kept the old address and horn didn't work.

It's a feature, not a bug: You can run a soundless loco and still control the horn of the V 160 at times.

Tom
