Hi Tom,
That is really useful, thanks.
It rather indicates what a mix of colours might have been in evidence from 1939 to the 1950s.

Very helpful! Also topically relevant for me at the moment. I'm doing some painting in TEE colors shortly, and I'm finding the RAL colors do not at all match Marklin's...

I have a bottle of RAL 1001, which is supposed to be TEE beige. But across ~10 Marklin, HAG and Roco TEE pieces I have it isn't even close enough to touch any of them up. Its not bad either, but not close to any models across a few manufacturers

My bottle of RAL 3004 was not even close- completely off.

Just a note for anyone comparing prototype to models! I'm painting a whole set, so I can simply find a closer red and go to work, but for touchup be careful...

Yeah I bought some Humbrol RAL3000 to paint a wheelset to match Marklins red.

It was not a perfect match but suitably close enough. I thought maybe the black original may have affected the colour but the Humbrol paint is a gloss enamel so I wouldn't think an enamel would be affected.

Found this colour reference chart on the suter-meggen web site, may be of use for cross referencing of brands/RAL colours etc

A good comparison chart , BUT when I open the link with Acrobat it is very distorted , the paint examples are ok .it is just the words that are unreadable . Any hints to how to rectify this problem ? On another forum someone else has the same problem .

Cheers Tom in Oz .

It works okay for me in both I/Explorer and Chrome browsers.

Maybe copy the link and past into a new window. Right clicking on it and opening in new window also works for me.

Cheers

Hi Brett It was just a case of using the enlarger on the paint chart , for one of lifes mysteries it then became readable .

Thanks for the thought .

Cheers Tom in Oz .
