I know there is a Trix wheel cleaner that works for Z engines as well. But what about the car wheels? For tracks I have the 88021 Indusi-Messwagen.
OneGauge Marklin and MTH, ESU ECoS 2.1 on LGB tracks. MTH 3-rail 0-gauge, DCS on GarGraves tracks. Z: Rokuhan tracks, analog or DCC+TC Gold.

I use cotton buds soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean wagon/coach wheels. Additionally, swap out any plastic wheels for metal ones.

Before I started this tread I found an old tread (2010?) where someone mentioned a device that worked for the wheels of cars as well. Since I can't find that tread again, I started this with the hope that such a device is available now. For engines yes, but not for cars then.
Thanks Carim and waorb!

Hi. I usually clean about 20 at a time in my ultrasonic cleaner. Works good. I remove them from the car and clean them for about 15 minutes. Removing them allows me to check the condition of the axles. Many of my cars were purchased used. Some I find, have very corroded axles and the cleaner does not really do much for this problem. I replace these for better ones. I imagine if I were to smooth the axle surfaces with a very fine grit paper it would get it back to normal, but I have not tried this yet. Can anyone tell if they add a drop of lube to the axle pinch point on the car to aid in rolling? Thanks

Yes I do add a tiny bit of oil to each axle-box, and I feel it makes a distinct improvement. The nozzle on LaBelle 108 is a standard syringe fitting and I bought a bag of very fine "blunt" needles for next to nothing on ebay which are ideal for lubricating Z scale items.

Cheers
