TIA NN Hi Nev! In practically all Märklin catalogs of yesteryears , such a table was published , mainly as a suggestion to buy more rolling stock (It worked for me as I have way more cars and coaches than locos!) BR 01 would not very often be seen at the head of a freight train though but I'm sure photos can be found of such an event; When I'm in need for "inspiration" for a prototypical composition I start by looking at Eisenbahn Stiftung GalerieAt least it is a "start". Cheers Jacques |

Cheers Jacques If I remember correctly Nev is now into N-Gauge and the nearest to this would be Trix , the question is do they have all the passenger from an era whereas the BR 01 was operating within. there are Hecht carriages, which are narrower at the ends, than you get the next era with 2 doors for 2nd class and 1 door for 1st class and last the standard carriages of 26.4m with dining car, John |

John, THe question is not for me but another who has N and HO. The HO is DC or DCC and MARKLIN. (Poor. fellow) I should have mentioned this before. He. He has been into Marklin for about 10 years. He mentioned , this afternoon, how that he could not find what type of Rolling stock a specific loco may have pulled. Either Passenger or Freight or maybe both. This is beyond the BR01 as this was just an example. . Looking at all German locos.
NN Yes into N Now, There is some nice Stuff out there and reasonably priced.

A good source of information is the photo sites on the internet, such as http://www.railfaneurope.net and https://www.bahnbilder.de/On these sites you can search for specific locos, and very often in the photos you can see the kind of trains they would be used for. You can also search for wagons and coaches and see what locos are pulling them. I hope this is useful. |

Over all time, (almost) every loco type has probably been coupled to every type of rolling stock.
It would be easier to answer, what locos have never pulled each type of rolling stock?
Most of the "never ever coupled" table would probably be correlated to the coupling types, (Eg ICE to Umbau) and since the model makers tend to also model the larger coupler types differently, a pretty safe bet would be that if the models use the same coupler, the trains probably had a real life example of that combination.
For typical running, anything of the same era for sure.
For more classic running, as suggested, the catalogs can give guidance.

Hi, You can also check http://railpictures.net too; one of the best online prototype photo databases there is. You can choose countries, locos, companies, etc. Very good search facility for cars as well. Cem.

Youtube videos are a great source of information. You can view the actual trains running. I use them for Era V Swiss compositions.
