Hello Everyone,

Greetings form Dubai.

I have been doing a little research online for Steam Loco with synchronized smoke system and came across this beautiful model from REE.

https://www.reynaulds.co...REE-Modeles/MB-014S.aspx

I am just wondering, does Marklin or any other German manufacturers have loco with synchronized smoke system ?

Thx a lot in advance.

Cheers,

Ajith

Hi,

Nice model.

AFAIK Marklin have synchronized and cylinder smoke only in Gauge 1. If my memory is not failing me, ESU have it in HO. I stand corrected as always ...

As he said, ESU have it in HO scale, and most their locos can run on the Marklin system

Yes I have the first version of this Roco BR 10 with ‘Dynamic Smoke’ very nice model with great Zimo sound.
Shortcomings are it won’t run on R1 curves and is not really happy on anything less than R3. Also, the chrome printed lining rubs off, caused by the smoke fluid residue!

More recently Roco released a new BR 85 with Dynamic Smoke, though not all versions have it fitted, some digital only or digital with sound only. They are also quite expensive at around 450 Euros, but then what isn’t these days! Thanks for posting the video, I must give my BR 10 a run again.

Hmm, not sure I would call that 'dynamic smoke' For dynamic smoke i would expect the smoke around the cylinders to actually puff and not just sort of 'float' like it is leaking from somewhere it shouldn't.

But what it does do is smoke copiously up the chimney which is something that Seuthe units don't do that well.

The smoke unit in the BR 10 is quite large and driven by a fan which blows the smoke out in sync with the sound effects. It is very impressive. I assume the newer BR 85 uses a similar, but smaller, unit as there also has to be room for the motor and flywheel, which is in the tender on the BR 10, driving the locomotive wheels via cardan shaft, like many Roco steamers.
