Hello good people,

My apologies if this is not the correct forum.

After cleaning up grannies attic, I came across this Marklin car.

I can only find pictures of a 2 tone paint scheme online for the 17M deluxe.

This example is green. Screws don't seem to be tempered with and I see no contaminations of a repaint.

Perhaps one of the members knows more about this car?

Thank you in advanced, bests

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

The 8027 was the two - tone version which appeared in 1959. In 1960 Märklin added a second, cheaper version (8028) which was only in a single colour.

From the 1960 catalogue:

Mehrfarbig: Multi colour
Einfarbig: Single colour

Thank you
So I presume they sold 8028's with 8027 bottom plates?

The color still puzzles me

I would not rely on the colour in the brochure being the correct colour. The 6028 may well have been produced in a totally differnt colour.

The colour of your model may well be the original colour of a specific batch of 6028 models. It is just flaking because it has been well played with over the years.

Hi,

If a model appeared in different versions Märklin usually didn't change the number in the plate. Other examples for models with the "wrong" stamp are the single-colored BORGWARD the POLICE - PORSCHE or the MERCEDES SILBERPFEIL without race - numbers (list not complete). Many models appeared in more than one colour simultaneously . The boxes had a small hole to see which colour the car inside had.

Regards

Markus
