Included with the lidl (special?) starter set 29362 is a tender locomotive numbered 80 039.
While not a exact scale model it there is a br80 original.
The model is fully black both plastic cover and metal body while the original has parts that are red.
Since the model is relative simple to disassemble i would like to experiment with paining it to a more scale appearance.
What i like to start with is to paint the metal body since that can be fully painted in the one color and it will be scale once the cover is back on.
Later some parts of the plastic body and bottom plate.
What brand/ type paint (idealy a type/order number of the exact color) is recommended for this assuming il be using a small brush to apply it?

Thanks

Hi,

If you're considering to start with weathering your best bet is to have some certain/main colors (that's because you will rarely use raw colors, you'll mix them), paint type doesn't really matter but enamel is easier to work with.

If you want the exact color, search for RAL standard color DB uses; there should be a catalog somewhere on the net far as I remember. These can be ordered from many internet shops.

Cem.

You would probably want RAL 3000 for red.

RAL colours can be translated to f.x. Humbrol model colours. (closest fit, not exact) here;
