Hello Friends,

I have been trying to configure an M84 to send momentary pulses, similar to an M83. I have two applications in mind:

1) I want to use an M84 on my son's layout to allow his MS2 to control turnouts. In parallel I want to use the eight external contacts on the M84 to control the turnouts, so that we can setup an analog style automation of sidings. I plan to use a second M84 in its standard configuration to control track power and a number of contact tracks to trigger the automation states.

2) I want to use braking modules with the M84s and matched hobby signals on my layout.

I have tried countless settings and still get continuous output (always on / always off) behavior from the M84. Below are the current configuration settings for the M84. They reflect my attempt to configure it as close as possible to the default settings of an M83.

Can someone please advise on how best to achieve my desired M84 behavior?

Do switch decoder m84 have momentary pulses?
I have read that there is blinking and random, but pulses??
M84 is an switch decoder.
M83 are turnout/signal decoder with momentary pulses for the motor control 60821 too (DC motor).

Thank you so much rhfil!

Obviously, I need to get better at my forum search criteria as I should have been able to find your reference on my own.

I changed the period setting from 50 to 1. This resulted in a perfect 1/2 second pulse. Based upon info from the thread you recommended, it seems my value of 50 was producing a 25 second pulse ... which I never waited long enough to see complete.

I will now move the M84 to my son's layout and see if I can get the external contacts to work.
