Last year, SBB Cargo was supposed to take operation of four Vectron Loks that had been purchased by Hupac from Siemens. One of those four locomotives (Roco 79117) was painted in a special version of the livery used for the LokRoll Vectrons leased by SBB (Roco 79956/Maerklin 36195). That lok was named "Rhein" and received the nickname "Nightpiercer". For reasons not yet totally clear, SBB IN ended up not taking the option on the leases and Hupac had to find other operators to lease them. The Nightpiercer foil was removed from the locomotive and it's life lasted only a few months.

Yesterday, railcolor.net posted a photo of the first of the new Vectrons, leased by SBB Cargo International from German financing company Suedleasing:

I was interested to see that the locomotive was once again delivered in the same blue/grey livery as the Hupac Vectrons and my immediate thought was "is there a second life for the Nightpiercer?"

Mike-thanks for the news...the Nightpiercer livery was really awesome, so hopefully SBB will wrap this lok with a similar scheme!

It was confirmed today by Railcolor.net that the Suedleasing Vectron (193) for SBB Cargo International will bear a livery very similar to that of the original "Nightpiercer".
The Railcolor report was restricted to paid members, but the email did include a photo/image of the first locomotive (193 516).
