Hello everybody ! I'm new here, on this forum, although my passion towards locos spans over 20 years. I never had the pleasure of owning Marklin locos, so when i found some 100 or so M- tracks, i bought them instantly. When i got home, i've noticed that the middle prongs (the ones connected to the stud) are missing. I'm not a native english speaker, so i have absolutely no clue what's the correct name for those metal pieces. I tried searching them over the web, without much luck. So my two questions for you seniors are: 1. What's the name of that metal piece, so i can search them up ? 2. Where can i find spares ? Thank you very much for your time spent reading my problem.

Oh, never seen them missing those bits. Are the centre studs still there? There was some start sets that had clockwork engines which were supplied with M-track that had no centre studs.

It was entirely my fault, i didn't check them properly. My mistake. The central studs are all there, in their place. These tracks just lack that central metal piece that connects the central studs. I don't know what's it called. I tried searching online, to no avail.

Welcome to the forum! Hope we can help: The only M-track I have that does not have the connector "Contact Lug (kontaktlasche)" is a version of the 7190 buffer stop (no connector or studs) Might be part number 35 204 https://www.marklin-users.net/co...3-wayTurnout(1073)-2.jpg item #11. Not sure if that is "Universal" but it could be a place to start. I also do not know the process to attach the lugs when you find them... Jimmy p. s. was it all of the pieces or just a few of them? |

Hello
I don't know the name or a spare part number for this part. But it is not a problem. You can use that track by soldering a cable from the center conductor to each other, below the track of course. And you'll be able to enjoy your M tracks .
Best regards |

Usually we would call those tabs a "tongue" (like in your mouth). I too have never seen several missing. One or two here and there yes, but on every piece of track? I don't think it's a part you can easily get, so you might need to have some made. Or, wire every piece of track. Can you post some photos of the tracks? Cheers |

My old M tracks had several missing the contact strips as shown above. I had to make sure that when I put two tracks together one of them had to have the contact intact so that it would bridge the gap and make electrical contact.
The reason some of these break off is that occasionally the contact gets bent upwards when mishandled. When this happens a couple of times the metal just snaps.
I never found that these parts were replaceable, so the track needs to be replaced if you can't do a "bodge" like I used to. |

M-track is cheap to buy these days - just replace the ones with the missing tabs/prongs/tongues with new track. Have a look at eBay and perhaps your local model railway clubs. As it is heavy, postage can be expensive. |

M track is no longer manufactured. E-bay has many for sale. If you travel to Germany or Switzerland, hobby stores may have quite a supply. Very odd if all 100 tracks are missing the tongue. I can imagine a few missing if one wanted to create an isolated section. One can connect a few by soldering a wire from underneath (between two tracks) but that sounds messy and likely result in some broken connections.
