I found a listing for a 94383 DB Cargo Sgnss car with DB Schenker containers, which was a sondermodell for Bahnshop 1435 in 2012. I also found a listing for a SBB Cargo Sgnss with Innofreight Containers lettered for Clariant (2013). That model was made for Clariant.

Neither of these models show up on the list that I reference most often:

http://gamos81.altervist...odali/PortaContainer.htm

I managed to find them by looking through the Werbemodell listings in the Insider publications

In previous years, I struggled to obtain limited edition models for the Dutch market (47051.XX, 47052, 47053, 47054).
There have been other models that would have been of interest had I known of them.

Does anybody have a list of all the sondermodell editions of the 4744X type and 4705X/4707X/4709X type container cars?

I recently took the plunge and decided to buy a Rocky Rail Sdggmrs container car. The model came with a T.T.S. and Samskip Van Dieren trailers. The model is labelled for AAE/TX Logistics.
I tested the car with a load consisting of a pair of Herpa Samskip and Hamburg-Sued 40 ft containers. They fit very well onto the car surface and do not interfere with the mounting fixations for the trailers.
Given the setup, I do not think that 45 ft containers can be used with these models.
There are representations for the moveable fixations to allow for the mounting of assorted containers, but they do not appear to be moveable. They sit in the bridge area between the two parts.

These seem to be useful cars, as they allow me to include 40 foot containers with sockets where most of my Maerklin cars require containers with pegs.
Piko has similar models, but I have not inspected how Piko's design allows for assorted loads.
Roco's new T-2000 can be used for trailers, but also can be used with containers using the Roco system with the transverse bar with central peg, which holds the container in place. Roco also includes mountable pegs, but I am not certain that those can be used to secure other brands of containers with sockets.
I am also looking at the metal collection of 90 foot container cars from B-Models. The models have been announced for a few years, but I have yet to see photos of the actual model. The images in the flyer show some detail but are not clear on how exactly they are to be used. Either way, this seems more promising than the Fleischmann type peg system used on their 60 foot Sgnss model.
For now, I probably will order one or two more of the Rocky Rail cars (maybe a Hupac and a ERS model).

I will decide on the B-Models cars once I have seen better images of the design and fixation system.
They have Ge-Ex, Ewals, Ferrymasters and Samskip cars that would fit my consists, not to mention the Ambrogio train that runs on the BLS daily.

Thanks for the little review. I recently had a look at the rocky rail stuff and it does look good. And is now on the end of my long list. One type of container wagon to look out for is the Brawa mega Fret wagons. Great detail and know issues with derailing on k track!! Just very difficult to get hold off. And I want two more for my channel Tunnel bound Freight, with Stobart rail swap bodies, which you can get in HO👍

I put Marklin AC wheels on my Piko T3000 and ran it for hours on C Track with no issues. These are great for trailers, but Piko containers are narrower than most and the Piko T3000 does not make a good car to use with other brands of containers.

With AC wheels also on K rails.

Brawa Megafret are a nightmare on K rails, but can be adapted using Roco AC wheels 40184 from Roco Wippenwagen. Wheel diameter is the same, but Brawa axle is much shorter, so the Roco axle must be trimmed. After this change no more derailments, and I had to change only one axle.

BTW, I have container cars from 22 different brands.

Hello Mike C,

I do not have a list, but I bought 5 of these (blue!!!) Dutch Sgnss container cars 47051.xx.
Here are the pictures and article numbers:

all together
https://estore-sslserver...Products/%2247051%20-%22

as single pieces
https://estore-sslserver...8b03b/Products/47051.005

https://estore-sslserver...8b03b/Products/47051.006

https://estore-sslserver...8b03b/Products/47051.007

https://estore-sslserver...8b03b/Products/47051.008

Where this P&O one

https://estore-sslserver...08b03b/Products/47051.99

is very strange. It has no article number but Joes gave him the number 47051.99.

And for this 47058 one I could not make up my mind yet. It is not a blue Sgnss wagon. The colour might be grey or so.

https://estore-sslserver...15f08b03b/Products/47058

But it has a plain container without any name on it. Whereas a few of them has been delivered with an OOCL container onthe wagon.

Some German dealers seem to take a standard Marklin wagon and supply it with a load they have added themselves, adding their own suffix number to identify it. I have seen this done with the bogie stake wagons. Caught me out looking at them until I realised there seemed to be an endless list of the one wagon with various loads.

The P&O Ferrymasters Reefertainer comes from the 47051.002, which was originally a Railion NL car. I don't know whether the car itself is a new road number or whether it is the same car as one of the 47051.005-008 cars. I think this model was put together by De Kleine BV (Maerklin Netherlands) using leftover parts.

I have most of those blue cars. I skipped the GVT one and got two of the Geest ones instead.

I wish that there was a greater selection of loads... I need a Mainsped trailer, SAE Trasporti Swap loads, Rinnen tank containers, other 45ft containers and more Hupac (SBB) cars.

Most of the cars are AAE, leased to various companies. Some are grey (Railion NS, Hupac, AAE), some are brown (DB old, CD, PKP, Cemat), some red (DB Cargo, DB Schenker, Touax), some are blue (RailRelease NL). SNCB/IFB/Lineas is green. The 47058 belongs to Ermewa SA and is grey. I don't know why some of the models came with marked containers and some seemed to be blank or unlettered.

Here are a Roco car with one MainSped container available.

https://exoneit.de/defau...ler_id=78&offset=108

Visited last week a dealer with a very large selection from Herpa in his shop. Asking him about MainSped he recommended to write directly to the company, asking if they have by marketing reason such trucks available

https://de-de.facebook.com/Mainsped/

https://mainsped.de/fuhrpark/

This Herpa dealer told me a lot of companies order by Herpa all kind of cars, trucks, etc. of their company by marketing reasons. Mainly these models are give aways to good customers, etc.. This also could be a reason why you do not find them very often on Ebay. I received such advertising articels myself and I never thought about them to sell a piece of these toys. Some are meanwhile on wagons on my own MRR.BigGrin

There have been three Herpa Mainsped models over time. The first was a truck and trailer. The second was a tractor and trailer with just "Mainsped" on the side. The third one, which is the one that I am looking for and is addressed in the topic "Hidden Items on eBay" https://www.marklin-user...571-Hidden-Items-on-eBay is the most recent version with "In Time... Italien... Spanien.." and Mainsped with the stylized E. Actual truck seen here: http://www.lkw-infos.eu/...ainsped-DS-210808-01.jpg

Of the two tractor and trailer models, there were 500 manufactured of each. I have the older version (176286), but am looking for the newer version (232531) to complete a modern KLV train.

I got my B-Modells car and containers. You will be thrilled to know that they use a different system for container attachment. They are elliptical bumps on the car with convex cut outs in the container. The containers might fit on other brand wagons but no other containers I have seen will match the wagon. I am not even impressed by how securely the container is affixed to the wagon. I post a picture when I get a chance.

A Sgnss related question.

I am looking for a source of just Sgnss containers to put into a Sgnss freight deport.

Any ideas. I already have Marklin cars, but need containers to site around the yard.

Hi Willis,
Sgnss is the car designation, it is not a container size. Pretty much any container can be loaded from 20 to 45 footers. In the States, Walthers is reputed to be a good source.

Hi Roger,

I presume that you are talking about the Sgns type (60 foot) cars that can hold up to 3 twenty foot containers, 2 thirty foot containers or 23 foot swap bodies, 1 fourty foot container (with optional additional twenty foot container) or a single forty-five foot container.

Like this prototype: https://www.vtg.com/file...n-Sgns_s_60-I41.060D.pdf

The B-Models system seems to be similar to the one used by Fleischmann. https://az95169.vo.msecn...ischmann/large/L5241.jpg
This consists of a small pin situated at each location where a container can be affixed. This enables the placement of the containers as described above.
The problem is that the positioning of these pins (nibs) would interfere with the bottom of a flat container. To solve this, they designed the containers with additional sockets on the underside, so that the containers can be placed on the car surface.
The Fleischmann and I presume the B-Models containers can be used on other container cars that have pins for use with 20 foot containers, as can Roco containers using the 4 sockets at the extremities. Technically, those containers could be used with Maerklin/Trix container cars using the Herpa 084192 adapter.

I would suggest that you consider the latest containers from Faller. This may be an advantage if you decide to add Faller's new container gantry to your layout.
As Roger said, Sgns is the car designation. The Containers have other designation, but are typically referred to as 20, 30, 40 or 45 foot containers.
This site has photos of assorted type freight cars, including the Sgns and other S type container cars:

These pictures show the car and the attachment pins and sockets. The only way the containers can be loaded symmetrically for even weight distribution is as shown. Seems to me it makes a lot more sense to put the pins on the container. That way there is no interference from car pins. The models themselves are beautifully detailed.

My biggest concern is that some of their models are modified AWM products and I have had some issues with the sockets not lining up 100% on AWM containers. The Herpa ones are on the whole more reliable, although there have been one or two Herpa made containers that have not been perfectly fitted either. For example, the "Geest" containers on the 47051.006 don't perfectly fit the sockets on the car body.

I would love to see a RailCare Vectron (Rem 476) with Coop containers. (Hey Maerklin, are you listening?)

I received four of the AWM Railcare/Coop containers today. I added posts made from .04" round styrene and was able to attach these to my Marklin Sgnss cars. The posts line up perfectly with the holes on the cars. I have to say that these containers are really cool looking! Hopefully, Marklin does offer some of these with additional paint/printing like they did with Minitrix.

This one

picture taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ5rXXij8YQ&t=0s

BTW, the COOP containers are frequently loaded on double container wagons, like in the picture, but Märklin 47800 wagons are too short. A 104' wagon is needed.

Minitrix released models of the Coop containers (with the SBB Coop Re 460) on Sgns 60 foot cars (2 bogies), with each car loaded with 2 such containers.
I don't know for certain if RailCare operates 90 foot or 104 foot container cars. Roco's 90 foot cars have been available with a load of 4 containers of the type used by Coop.
See here: https://www.roco.cc/en/p...0-005002-0/products.html

The problem is that the Roco cars cannot be used with the AWM Coop containers due to different fixation systems.

You can use the AWM containers on Maerklin Sgns cars using the Herpa 084192 adapter
http://www.herpa.de/coll...p;thumb=1&lang=en-GB

The adapter has pins on top and on bottom and can be used to seat 20 foot or tank containers on Maerklin and Trix container cars with sockets.
Maerklin already provided these adapters with several of the 4705X series cars.

I ended up getting a few more of these to replicate a Railcare train. I will be using Marklin sgnss cars with a Piko Br 186 Railcare Pink Panther that I bought a couple years ago. AWM has released two more of these. The latest are printed with apples and pears:

https://shop.bahnorama.c...iner-set-apfel-und-birne

Railcare uses sggmrs cars with special adapters (similar to the Roco models), but the Marklin sgnss cars look great with these.
