Got an Airfix Club newsletter today where the new Humbrol Rail Colours are introduced.

Acrylic paint with mainly British Rail focus, but it's a line aimed towards model railroads. Some of them might be useful for all of us...

A bit off topic maybe, but the name Airfix brings back some very nice memories for me! Smile

I bought two Airfix-models some years ago however, to build together with my son. One was the "Stuka" in scale 1:24. I was very disappointed in the "quality" of the plastics. I made this modell also 1980 and could compare the two. It was a huge difference. Small details were much crisper on the old one.

I've read somewhere that Airfix moulds had been shipped abroad and that the models were made by another manufacturer. But that Hornby has bought Airfix and that they now are produced once more in Britain.

Has anyone built one of these newer Airfix-models? I would like to build a couple together with my son. If not for anything else so out of nostalgic reasons.

And the Tamya-paints are great! (And the same goes for their models!)

Not to be a kill joy, but you really have to be careful of spray painting acrylics indoors. Once inhaled into the lungs, the plastic in acrylics is one of the few compounds that can not be broken down or disposed of by the body. This creates a strong link to cancer. I always wear an appropriate mask when spray painting it.
