...and it is. Judging by the pickup and the motor etc this is an unused loco. At least it was never described as 'mint'. Just shows what the wrong storage conditions can do, particularly to this loco which nearly always seems to have paint problems  IMG_3942 by dralowid, on Flickr All the paint came off it using a fingernail and sticky tape. The plastic moulding has quite a glossy sheen to it which might explain why the paint comes off! Originally I bought it for spare parts since I need pantographs like this which are expensive.

I think it could be made to look like a loco standing in the weeds awaiting restoration. Pantographs used on a working one....

Paint coming off like that is typical. My 3053 with the single row ventilators started loosing paint from the plastic body from day 1. The metal frame is perfect though. A lot came of with the fingernail but I used brake fluid to remove it all. Dereck  I can believe that loco wasn't used, but it had to be handled to get like that. The paint on mine started curling. The silver on the roof started coming off first and I touched it up with silver paint which I could nearly match. |

This is my second 3054, both have provision for a central light fitting but neither have the fitting itself. Yes the loco has obviously been handled roughly in the past. I've given it it a coat of grey primer for now, it may end up looking like it has just left the works on the way to the body shop!  IMG_3946 by dralowid, on Flickr

It does look good. This is a loco for hauling SJ X2000 after a breakdown. |

I had my 3053 (purchased xmas '66) repainted around 20 years ago. It was worn-looking but not that bad. She has maintained her good looks. My 3054 has a couple of scratches here and there. Peter.

Mine has the lighted roof area. it had become a candidate for a digital reprogram though as there is a broken wire somewhere which stops it reversing direction once it has been going in reverse. you only have to touch one of th wire around th motor to get it to run in the right direction. Sad really when you consider it has done "f all" miles.

My 3054 had some scratches on the beige paint which I touched up with Humbrol enamels. I can't even see where the damage was now.  as you can see in this old photo the interior is lit. When I converted it to digital it became a digital function.  These two other locos were also in bad shape and I used the same Humbrol paint to spruce them up:   |
