Hey everyone, Looks like I will be passing through Munich on a work trip at the end of this month, and I was wondering if there was any great marklin shops to visit? I'd be into seeing a dealer that has a huge amount of used stock, or a super-discounter of new items. (yes, I will be on a buying spree ) Any suggestions? Time is tight or I'd go see them all! Thanks! |

Hi there - you may not find too many stores in Munich that discount M. The best place to go is the Blumenhalle Markt on Saturdays - full of interesting used stuff.
However "Gleis 11" at 16 Bayernstr. on the south side of Munich Hbf is a Maerklin Shop in Shop and there are others dotted around the city. Also try "Conrad Electronics" at Tal 29 in the city center - and there is a much larger store at Moosach, Hanauer Str. 91 but this is some distance out to the north , always lots of good stuff. Let me know how you get on.

Sometimes Obletter (now Mueller) has items on sale at the Stachus across from the train station. |

Just to enlarge on Renato's post, the museum has a large Flieschmann layout which is operated at scheduled times. And a warning - if you go to the museum be very clear about what you want to see - it is VAST! |

I have dealt with Gleis 11 before and was happy with the service. If you go to maerklin.de, click on Haendler and then Haendlersuche, enter Muenchen, you will find a list of all official dealers. Remember, if you are not often in Germany, that you can find some exclusives here and there, for example, Conrad has released a series of special loks (SBB Re 482 RAG, etc), Eurotrain (Idee und Spiel) has also commissioned special models (including the recent DHL/GATX tank cars). You can find these and other models at these websites: www.conrad.dewww.eurotrain.deI am sure that if you look around, you will be able to find all kinds of special items from Roco, Fleischmann, Trix and Maerklin (to name a few) that will look wonderful in your collection or on your layout.
