Hello Sebastian,

Wonderful, I’ll update this thread with more information as time goes by.

No need to bring but if you really want to bring something my suggestion would be to bring that poor running pesky locomotive so we can give it a workout on my layout.

Sure signs of cabin fever here in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 as I have five members attending and it's only been a couple of day notice on the forum!

This is going to be a great get together, the more the merrier!

This is an open invitation so please don't hesitate in contacting me.

Michel

Just a thought: while we may not know each other, most if not all from GTA area likely know Mike at Westend trains or Randy at John's hobbies. Wonder if it is a good idea to invite them to the gathering.

Now that's a fantastic idea! Time difference would be five hours, very interesting...........

Not really sure about Skype but I can FaceTime with my iPad if someone has an iPad or iPhone?

A few years ago I had a very pleasant FaceTime experience with Johnvr from Cape Town South Africa. We actually had a very wonderful conversation and the reception was very clear, it was as if John lived was next door..

The date is fast approaching just in case you are new to this forum or missed my invitation on my previous post. This is an open invitation to all forum members who live near Barrie and the surrounding areas like Toronto, Ontario or even Canada if you're in my neck of the woods so to speak or if your love is model trains you're invited too!

As mentioned the plan is to meet on Saturday June 15, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Weather permitting a BBQ of great Canadian hamburgers will start the meet with refreshments. The meet is to get us together and discuss everything Märklin! One of the attractions is my new Marklin C track layout that is being built in my basement’s train room. Model trains is the theme from desires to building that model railroad of your dreams. Come learn all about the how too’s, assistance and advise in building a model railroad.

Have something to run bring it, something to swap or trade bring it and most of all take yourself out of the big city and see who your fellow marklin-users.net forum members are!

Please post or PM for address and information.

Hope to see your here!!

Regards, Michel

Michel thanks for the update. What is the size of your layout and the length of the longest straight track sections?

Sebastian,

Michel's layout is quite large, see his other threads on tie layout build here:

Last Spike

Hamburg fits (see post 13 for dimensions)

Looking forward to seeing it myself and meeting new Ontario Marklinistas!

Cheers,

Harold.

Hello Sebastian,

Posted below is a picture of the then just repainted room with no signs of my passions for model railroad.

Room size is 42’ X 12’ or 12.802 metres X 3.658 metres.

Does your new layout have scenery or tracks only at this point?

No scenery as of yet but you can call my layout the Plywood Pacific, bare plywood ready for the artistic Dutch touch in me to do the landscaping!

Please note there are over +400 pieces of Marklin C track laid and screwed into place ready to roll the trains! Which I guarantee will highlight the advantages of what can be accomplished with Märklin's C track.

Please note that I will post new pictures after I have cleared the construction debris in the room. I still have two weeks and after the spit and polish I’ll showcase my endeavour on the forum. Until then, back to the basement!

Regards,

Michel

Thank you Michel and Susan for hosting a great event. It was fun to run some trains on your great new layout. Hopefully you will get a chance to run your own trains today!

You want to see a photo of the layout?

Since it's seldom that I have the room so clean how about more than one photo?

Please note I still have more work to do on the Hamburg station track plan.

Cheers, Michel

Hi Michel Cool

You did a fantastic job with the wood framing.

Moreover, given the design of your room with its many corners that generate waste of space, you have managed to lay out a prodigious layout.

You have space on both sides and despite the relatively narrow width of your room, you have managed to use wide curves.

What sleepless nights, right? Hats off, man!!! Really you can be proud.

I hope Mike saw it.

Cheers

Hello Serge,

Thanks for the kind words, it was actually a labour of love making this new layout. I also have to thank the designer of Anyrail for his very useful program to do the design of the track plan. Without Anyrail I would still be trying to figure out how to lay out the track plan.

Unfortunately Mike did not make it. Maybe one day he'll visit and see why I’ve been spending all my money at his store!BigGrin

Regards, have a nice day! Finally no rain in the forecast today, nice to know we both will have a sunny day for a change.
