I like Märklin items produced in the 1960s or early '70s, but also digital locos & current rolling stock. |

Hi Mark, I would like to repeat myself: such sharp eyes you have... You must have a marvellous collection in mint... Two of my ambitions are to see your locos and also visit PJmarklin’s(Philip)neat layout in Tasmania one day, but for the time being they are both dreams Well, don’t we live for our dreams? Cheers, mehmet |

Cheers, mehmet Hello again, Well, those vintage locos I still have now are truly original and near-mint, and a few of them have hardly ever been used since the 1960s or early '70s, but I have less than 50 old locos now, though I've started buying MRR items again recently. It's really hard to find vintage items that haven't had any touch-ups. Not all that glitters is gold ... I often send back non-original items to sellers. I guess it's easier to buy rolling stock that is meant to be used on a layout. There's no need to worry about a little repainting as long as it's not noticeable because all of this will be used on a regular basis anyway. In case you ever visit Luxembourg, you're very welcome to have a look at my locos. I have some digital and contemporary stuff as well (DSB era 4-5), but that's meant for a future layout, in case I ever manage to build that. If not, most DSB items I have are quite rare and would be easy to sell to collectors or MRRs. Anyway, you're right! We should try to live our dreams ... Best regards, Mark |

Kimball ...actually that loco came to me in big lot...if my memory does not mislead, it was one of the locos of a 50 lot loco I purchased from an ex-friend of mine... ...this explains why it was not in a box... |

It's a shame, but not unusual today.
I was in that shop in March, and I had a good look around before eventually buying a couple of Marklin wagons. Other items I had on my shopping list were not in stock and I ended up buying them online when I got home.
The truth is that it is too expensive to keep a full range in stock these days, for the limited demand from a reducing number of customers. The only way shops can stay solvent is to have a thriving online business at the same time. |

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

In my first visits in the beginning of 2000s I remember very well a father and a kid or two were inside the shops looking at MRR stuff. In those days the prices hadn't gone wild and mad, at least some of them were still at reasonable level. The situation was the same for the Messes in Dortmund, Cologne or Stuttgart...But they are all shrinking...In less than 20 years' time there will be very few shops all around Europe. There is not a single MRR shop left in Frankfurt area, or this is what I know. About 15 years ago there were more than twenty. To cut the long story short: this hobby is dying out... Who is the blame? The MRR factories themselves. They seem to have forgotten one simple fact: They are making toys.... |

Hi rmsailor, Not a big surprise for me...especially when one looks at the Royal Corps of Transportation Set, which is too simple for The Royal Family, I believe. Even Ludmilla did not receive proper respect for many years from Mother M* or let’s say not the respect the Swiss Crocodile or The French Capitole have received for years...But when I happened to find this diesel less than 50€, I could not resist too much...
