Going on a post binge today, i have had a lot of trouble finding the correct instructions for attaching stayalives to esu decoders.
I have downloaded an absolute ton of esu manuals but cannot get the drawings to at all match up with the components or the solder tabs on the boards.
I have googled this to death and am baffled.
I even wrote 2 emails to esu, no response so far.
Has anyone any idea how to add stay alives to esu plux22 or 8pin decoders?.
LOLOLOL they are just toys, grow up and play with them.

First, are you referring to the ESU power packs specifically, or the ability to connect capacitors for stay alive?

ESU power packs are for decoders v4 and v5 only, wiring capacitors for stay alive is for v3 and v3.5 decoders.

The ESU power packs have a wiring diagram included.
The wiring diagram for capacitors with a v3.5 decoder can be seen here: http://www.sbs4dcc.com/images/430_Image3.jpg

If you can tell me what decoder and stay alive you are trying to connect I will be able to help further if I have not already answered your question.

To get the best help with ESU decoders join the Loksound forum on Yahoo at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/loksound/

There are some very clued up guys there and the US ESU representative (Matt Hermann) also lurks there.

20190511_160017.jpg im quite late but here is one of the decoders (8 pin leaded version) fitted to my 3026.
I have attached a 2200uf cap with resistor and diode (the same as a coach lighting buffer) to the red and black wires and attached them to the solder pads listed in the ESU manual.
I have measured the voltage at the cap and leads and this is 0V at all times.
Is there some CV settings i have to change to enable this to work?.
I have contacted ESU a few times now with no reply, might have to book a flight to Deutschland and visit them in person.
It will be time to trace the PCB tracks soon, i dont feel like doing that.
