That is the two tone green that was done in minitrix a year or two ago, looks quite attractive.

Must go back and read the article in my Proficlub magazine, IIRC it was the Minitrix proficlub loco.

I'm assuming ERA III with the "41" (vs. 141) designation? What types of cars/liveries pulled - I assume primarily passenger? Routes? Anyone have some insight on the prototype with this livery/era? Thanks!

Thanks Steven.

I think it is a good idea of Märklin!

I am curious if there will be some MLeaks before :)

Ah, yes, almost forgeting probably I will need a "lense" to hear it in Portugal Portuguese or US or UK English )))))

Edit: Brazilian Portuguese will also be great and for me better than any English!

Ah correct. Sorry I always forget that your or mine seasons are shifted by a 180°.

Well, today I received a webnews mail from Märklin announcing the Summer novelties for May 9th, 2019 at 18:00 (well guess local time in Germany - do not know the time in New Zealand) on its You Tube channel by a livestream.

Quote:
"Diesen Termin sollten Sie sich vormerken: Am 9. Mai 2019 um 18.00 Uhr werden die Sommerneuheiten erstmals auf dem Märklin YouTube-Kanal unter www.youtube.de/maerklin-gp.de der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Dort können Sie die Präsentation in Form einer Liveübertragung miterleben."

For me a little bit funny. Yesterday I received my 3 coaches (Märklin art# 43224) from the toyfair Nürnberg in 2018 - yes 2018 not 2019!Laugh

BTW to which continent do you add New Zealand?

Google is your friend!

Currently we are 12 hours ahead of Germany, but since you put your clocks forward an hour at 2am tomorrow morning then it will be 11 hours difference. Next week we put our clocks back an hour so the time difference on 9 May will be 10 hours. So, Summer New Items will be announced 4am 10 May New Zealand time - not that I'm staying up for it!

This is not by any chance about the “Maerklin-LGB” version?

That would be my guess as well.

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

However I would not be surprised if they also do an HO version in Marklin and Trix, possibly with Minitrix and Z gauge versions as well.
What is the significance of May 9th for the Summer NI announcement? When was the original Golden Spike ceremony?

Wikipedia says it was May 10th 1898, and May 10th is a Friday this year, so the announcement is on the day before. That will allow them to have a big advertising campaign (along with everyone else producing Golden Spike locos) on the 10th.

I think I would be prepared to put money on at least HO versions of the locos if I was a betting man, on that basis.

If Maerklin wish to try something different in the smaller scales, they could include a couple of pieces of rolling stock with each engine.
It appears from historical records, that each train (Union Pacific and Central Pacific) may have been equipped with at least 2 cars, possibly a baggage or utility plus a coach.
The only real market for such a set is North America (in my opinion).
It certainly would not do any harm.

Bachmann have done, (maybe still do) HO models of both UPR 119 and CPR Jupiter.
Maerklin (LGB) are busy promoting the two engine set now at a hefty price, but probably worthwhile for many train buffs and model collectors.

Hello Alan,

you confused me, sorry, not May, 10th 1898 - it is a little bit too late. By Wikipedia it was May, 10th 1869.

Here is what was said in the latest North American digital newsletter about this topic after a brief introduction to the LGB version:

Märklin, Inc. staff and Märklin Germany Export Manager, Mr. Janko Franke, will launch the Golden Spike Steam Locomotive Set at the Heritage Festival 150th Edition in Ogden, Utah on May 9 – 11, 2019 and at the Sesquicentennial Celebration at Promontory Summit, Utah on May 10 – 12, 2019.

So I think the LGB version will be what we see in May and not other versions in other scales. I could be wrong of course but this will be of limited interest outside of the US and the LGB version is most likely all that they will offer.

Jim

I could see Marklin making a re issue of the UP Big Boy in special display for the event. It would be easy for them to do since they have the tooling ready to go. I don’t seem them making any 4-4 loc’s for ho.

Hi,

I can speculate, too. What do yo see?

UserPostedImage

The locomotives are shown on regular Märklin - 1-gauge track, not on LGB - rails. Rolling stock with LGB - wheels can't even stand on 1-gauge scale track without looking ugly with a gap between rail and wheel. For me this looks like that a product originally designed as Märklin-1-product has changed its flag in the last minute.

Grüße

Markus

Email from Marklin.

Dear XXXXXX

We would like to thank you for actively promoting our models as well as for publishing some of our news on your Facebook (and Marklin users forum) page.

However, we want to generate a great deal of excitement with our customers before the release of our New Items and therefore we regularly ask our dealers to hold back the information about the New Items until a specified date.

Regarding the online livestream presentation of our Summer New Items 2019 via our Youtube channel, we would be very happy if no information about the new models appears on the Internet in advance. Therefore, we kindly ask you to hold back all the information until May 09, 2019 - 7 p.m., like our dealers handle it, too.

We want to thank you very much and we wish you furthermore a lot of fun with our models.

With best regards from Göppingen

Well, that was all a bit of a damp squid I thought.

Couldn't they find a second microphone to give the guest presenters? many of them looked like a rabbit in the headlights too, not used to being called on to do this sort of thing.

I am sure that the 241 will be a sought after model. I am a little disappointed by the rest of the offerings, as there is little for me.

I guess that I can still look forward to the Fall New Items...

For those considering the Orient Express, you may want to check out the Lemke/LS Models offerings for the coaches. I am sure that they would look amazing behind the Maerklin 241.

I guess that I can still look forward to the Fall New Items...

For those considering the Orient Express, you may want to check out the Lemke/LS Models offerings for the coaches. I am sure that they would look amazing behind the Maerklin 241.

But the new 37068 BR 80 is a must for everybody with a German railway.

There are a couple of items that may be ordered, but prices are indeed becoming insane.

So there is no part number listed for the Schuco Liebherr A922 Rail, how is one to place an order for it.
Nothing on the Schuco website either.

The BR213 and the Liebherr A922 Rail will be ordered by me as great additions to the maintenance yard.

The overhead maintenance train looks interesting, but since the drive train is in the flat car (and not the Unimog, for obvioius size reasons), and I've already got a overhead cable installation car, I'll skip that one. Now if they managed a micro-motor driven Unimog.. that would be a different story.

Another wait for a 711.1

I am still seeking a proper train for my 39241 to pull and I don't think that this latest set will be it. Items 42790/42791 look too much like my 26922 set for me to be interested and they are will no doubt be Trix coaches with sketchy lighting, just like my 26922 coaches have.

I will have to check out the LS Models Orient Express coaches - thanks for the tip.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Indeed! The crazy prices are making me a lot more selective in what I order these days, which may turn out to be a good thing. BigGrin

I guess they mean the Lichtbild. In other words it goes over the norm.

I think it is because anything with Coke branding gets bought by the huge coke collector universe. There are plenty who buy anything with the branding so they will buy this even if they are not into trains at all.

I noticed that their earlier Coke S-Bahn sets were always more expensive on eBay, so I still don't have such a set. (And the new prices are usually just crazy anyway.)

I'm actually a little disappointed. No US-items at all. I've dreamt of a train to suit my Big Boy 4014 as in the prototype.

The 39243 is a must have to me and the Transwaggon cars maybe. I'll pass the Orient Express cars as I already have the 42795 and 42796. My budget is quite limited this year so maybe it was good Märklin didn't chose any special models.

Yes, that is a real marketing miss, I guess it is going to a case of trawl around the shop web sites to find it. I didn't notice if they gave a catalogue number for it on the video. Just checked, neither Modellbahn Kramm or Lokshop show a catalogue number for it.

The Liebherr is about it for me, maybe the Br80 seeing it has the new Telex.

Well that wagon is a co-production with Viessmann who have had these 'self propelled' wagons in their range for a while. I could be tempted by a non-self propelled wagon with the catenary wire load, but don't think that set will be heading my way.

I haven't worked out the exact RRP of the 241 with coaches, but it is around Euro 1500 for the three items.

I haven't checked the price of the G1 241, but looking at the pipework on that I am guessing it will be a bad case of sticker shock ... Scared Scared Scared OhMyGod

Is the G1 Black Krocodile a production item? It was on the video, and there is a very arty picture in the brochure, but no details about it. Again I suspect a case of sticker shock, but shouldn't be as bad as the 241, after all, it can't be much more than a repaint of an existing model, maybe with new Telex couplings and mfx+ decoder ...

Lots of attractive Era II items for us II junkies. BR 42 plus a bunch of wagons (#45088) are definitely on order.

And yes, I will bite on the Orient Express as well.

Well,

I guess I never shared with anyone but when I was a kid, not too many years ago (end of the 90's), my father used to bring me to a local train station in the suburb of Genoa, Italy (Sampierdarena) where we used to live, he didn't like trains but I was already a train junkie and well, that was one of the few father-son activities we used to do because he used to come back home quite late and I still remember when, in the evening, he sometimes brought me to the station to watch trains and I remember a lot of these "exotic" Nordwaggon and Transwaggon trains heading north... So yeah, I'm definitely going to buy the set 48063.
Ep. III (My layout is set in 1962).
I collect mainly DSB, DB and SBB but I'm quite... Open minded.
I'm quite a big collector of NOHAB lok :)
