I have been around model railways since 1955 (Tri-ang transcontinental train set) and DCC since around 2007. I have been writing a blog about my efforts for the last 9 years. This follows my path through US HO, US N, UK OO, UK N, UK NG and so on. Back and forth and never feeling safe doing any of them. It culminated in my writing a US freight car routing app for a mobile phone as part of the final project course for my Open University B.Sc.

Having then messed about with UK N gauge - again, I have finally got rid of it all and taken up with Marklin. Basically, because I have always wanted to just watch trains go by - something that I haven't achieved in years with my other avenues.

Panoram - Pennstadt/Valdorf

Anyway, I would like to introduce you all to my Blog - Gentle Model Railways - which records all of this activity in some depth - the nice bits and the bad bits.

Comments are welcome - both on the blog and here. I will post any new activity here for everyone to savour.

Moving on with Pennstadt-Valdorf, I have now completed work on the tunnel at one end.

Hello David,

I like what you have done with the left side of your oval. I hope all of your early challenges are long past and that you are now getting maximum enjoyment from your layout.

No, back in 2001 - 2004 I made furniture for a living and that is one of the clocks that I made.

Clock 1

This is another that I made - Shaker style.

I made an almost identical clock a few years back - but mine has glass in the lower door.
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

David,

Love the tunnel!

Also like the use of mirrored doors! Makes the layout look twice as big! BigGrin Might use that idea for mine!

The wardrobes just happened to be there!

Anyway, I have moved on with the layout. Further details are on my blog at Gentle Model Railways. This covers more scenery, a wiring update and details about my Arduino activity.
