Hello
When I was last in the hobby a decade ago xtrkcad was easy to use and great for novices, what do you guys use these days? Anybody still on Xtrkcad?

Hi Steen, My impression is that majority of users are (or have) used SCARM or Wintrack for their trackbuilding software. Iam not familiar with Xtrkcad, but I personally prefer a program that has a good 3D rendering and controls in that environment that means you can easily move around in different heights to get a good feel of the look of it. PS: like your Danish username! The Island of Funen is indeed a delight Best Regards Lasse |
Digital 11m2 layout / C (M&K) tracks / Era IV / CS3 60226 / Train Controller Gold 9 with 4D sound. Mainly Danish and German Locomotives. |

Yep.. I am using Railmodller Pro too.. Good bit of software, but you do need to add some of your own tracks to the library if you use M-track.. It does not come with some of the older contact tracks (e.g. 5104) .. Fortunately, it is easy to do.. |

Also using Railmodeller Pro. Great track libraries included, and more can be easily added.

Thank you for all the replies.
I restarted XtrkCad and I am still very happy with it, you can model 3D in it or rather show a 3D rendition of what you draw. |

I'm using WinTrack; works well and its what the Germans are likely to be using, so the support there (if you speak german even better) is richer in the forums re Märklin track. |

I'm actually using Anyrail. Pretty good and easy to use. I did buy the full version after a while.

Eddy I used Xtrkcad but found the learning curve to be too much for my needs. Then I tried Anyrail, which was a breath of fresh air! I have completed my first ever model train layout using Anyrail. As Eddy states it's pretty good and easy to use! I'll second that! I have also purchased the full version which is constantly being updated with new features regularly by the developer. The program works as advertised and is very helpful. Regards

Downloaded it yesterday and don't understand it. I don't know how it use it. I hear about watching the demos but can't find them. Xtrk website is a joke. None of the emails work to ask for help. Any ideas?
