Hi all,
Second go. Typed it up and promptly closed it by mistake!Crying

Being involved in model trains allows a diversity of interests to be accommodated. I am not a rivet counter or train spotter and I forget most of the catalogue numbers.
I love the older models and cringe when I have to do some scenery. Hence my layout looks like a moonscape with European models of all description in one place.
I do, however, like how basic electronics can be applied to model trains and I have developed an interest in small machinery to fabricate items and repair worn or broken bits.
The topic "More model railway fun-Trial and error" 29.5.2017 started me on this insane quest to make loads for well wagons.
I use Hornby Dublo 3 rail wagons as they are not expensive, fairly easy to source and run well on Marklin C track.
The loads are not to any scale , just so they look acceptable.

The first load is a cable drum wagon. Most manufacturers have a version of this and I like the older style with wood slat sides.
The wood was milled round, then imitation slats milled and a s..t load of imitation round head bolts inserted.
The centre of the drum is Delrin rod and the cable is flexible electric cable. The drums sit on a brass support and are held down by a neoprene strap.
The strap is kept taut by chains and a functioning traction mechanism.

I will post the other loads as separate posts.
Cheers Howard.
