Hello,

I would appreciate if You could help me to estimate the selling price of locomotive i have received as a gift after my grandpa.
It is DB 80031 from West Germany from 1984. There is no original package. It is about 33 cm long.
It is not my hobby and i am not a person who collect marklin however I would kindly ask for Your proffesional help.

OK, you have a Gauge 1 loco, with a display stand. I couldn't make out all the inscription on the display track.

I bought a similar loco at auction in the UK for GBP30, it may be worth a little more than that, but I don't think it would be a lot more.

Personally I would suggest you keep it as a memento of your grandfather.

Once you have a price in mind, I would be interested in the model to add to my gauge one layout. Mike

I would think any gauge 1 loco in this excellent condition would be worth a lot more than £30?

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

I would think it is definitely worth more than 30 quid.

It is a Maxi loco, and runs analog - 2 rail AC (non digital). Our club has one of these.

Item number is 5700, although this loco was also in the 5500 starter set. The Perspex display board is not original Märklin, someone has had that made up and mounted the track to it.

You could search ebay for completed auctions for Märklin 5700 to see what they've been selling for.

Best guess would be between $100 and $200.

I did just that BigGrin

These are the locomotives of this type sold in the last 3 months on Ebay.de:

https://www.ebay.de/sch/...ipg=50&LH_Complete=1

But I have also seen them sold privately as cheap as 30 - 40 Euro.

This one predates the metal tin plate style Maxi line that was made by ETS for Marklin. Plastic shell over a metal chassis. Motor is basicly the same one that's in a 3000 HO scale 0-6-0. Still interested if/when the owner comes up with an asking price

I didn't know this, I always though the Maxi line was made by the Märklin company Blushing

Me too, I have never heard of ETS making anything for Marklin. I would be interested to see any documentary evidence fro this.

Hi,

The earlier MAXI-Models are really produced by ETS ( http://www.ets.cz/en/about-us/? ), later models [from ~ 1999) came from Märklin Hungary.

czechmaxi.jpg

On some ETS - models you find similar small parts than on MAXI-models, like handle-grips or roof-vents. I could take pictures.

The 5720 has nothing to do with the MAXI-line (except for the 45mm rails). It came first in 1969 and has the motor-parts from the 3015 crocodile.

Regards

Markus
