I just started working with my Marklin# 4081 silver passenger coach with driver's cab and was impressed with the system they used to change the lights from red ones to white ones depending on the direction the car was going.

Just curious, are there any other Marklin passenger cars that have the same light changing system that changes lights and colors based on direction?

yes, for example 4160, 4185 and the ICE 3071 (same concept), 4046 is a very early implementation.

There is no ICE 3071! This system was first used in 4046. With the latest new items it seems that using a decoder is the system for the future. The system used in the ICE pilot cars is a bit different. They use gears there, not the axle.
