Check these out, love the end viewing platform... and triple-wheel bogies not very common

https://www.ebay.de/itm/183588939390

And... only 11,600 Euro's !!! Need some serious overtime to bag those babies

I'll grab some images in a while and embed them so they are not lost after the auction ends

Enjoy

IMAGES ADDED - 2924 J, 2925 J, 2926 J

I'm not sure which reference the drawings are from but someone will recognise it. Almost needs something included in the image for perspective, these will be a very impressive size and make an awesome consist. I wonder which Loco was intended they go with?

Hi Cookee,

The loco which should be used with these cars was the HUDSON which was also only offered (officially) in the US. I attach the leaflet which was added to the catalogue in the US-edition.

The cars offered in that auction are replicas for me. The PULLMAN cars were rebuild by a number of specialists (TWERENBOLD, HEER and others) from the 1970s. I don't know who has made the cars offered. But I'm nearly sure that's not Märklin. Edit: Usually these cars are green. I have never heard of blue ones.

Yes, you can see that in the catalogue descriptions "dunkelgrun" - dark green. Bit of a cheek showing catalogue pages that have a different description to what is being offered. Blink

I see Letting 'New York Central' on side of Blue coaches made by Ritter Restorations in 70s and 80s.

https://www.planetdiecas...estorations&catid=13

The original 1930s model dark green do not have NYC letting on it.

Hi,

I know how the original cars look like. The colour is really "dark green" and has nothing to do with the blue of the cars offered. The original cars are known with various inscriptions. Also "New York Central". I hope I will find some pictures back. But Märklin never offered a baggage car.

Hi,

Not a good picture. But an original car. Please note the special couplers.

It's interesting and thanks for the responses. I noted that the catalogue did not include any wording for New York Central and that is clearly one of the Ritter series so either the seller does not know or has chosen to 'overlook' but surely there would be no shame in stating they are Ritter production? Unless of course the original Ritter price was much (MUCH) lower and what this seller is asking is just a rip-off?

All the same, they are very attractive and nicely done. Many of Ritter's other items carry their own logo "RR" instead of the M. logo so I would expect that 'somewhere' on these coaches the logo should also be found but it's not shown on the images.

I see the range of coach names for the original production is quite varied and exotic....

Cromwellian, Ithac, Oneonta, Washington, Waverly

Hi friends,

These are indeed from RITTER, in a special blue series as mentioned before Marklin never produced. Also the baggage car is a new creation. The price is a "dream" ... here are some recent auction results on eBay-DE that are more realistic:

They certainly are great looking coaches...

Best,

Hi,

As an addition, this is the locomotive in real. Photo taken at the Dr. Bommer Collection, Winterthur, Switzerland. A real impressive engine.

Fantastic Markus, thanks for sharing. Dr Bommer created a wonderful collection and it's great that it's in a museum now.

I am curious about the Hudson, because I know two versions for O Gauge. One that I see is considerably more valuable, but only (to my eye) has a small difference: the front boiler section is gray. Does anyone else know why the price difference is so high?

I'm no expert here, but I've seen 3 different black boiler examples in the flesh, never seen or heard of the silver one. Perhaps it is indeed scarce- even by vintage marklin O gauge standards...

Also- an interesting note to these passenger cars is that they appear scale length, something absolutely nobody really did in O scale for space and turning reasons until recently!

Hi Paul,

For me the question would be: Why was the #6444 so cheap? Without having seen the real thing and just from the thumbnail it's impossible to say. It can be just a coincidence. Or there was something wrong with the engine. Usually these engines are more expensive.
I also don't know the version with the silver boiler. There is also a blue one which came up some years ago with other prototypes made for Richard Märklin as samples for the US-market.

Regards

Markus
