I bought a Railad electric loco, and I need a rubber tyre for it - the spare part number is 0802. Railad have discontinued manufacturing locos and they are out of stock of the rubber tyres and will not be getting any more. I have tried several retailers in Germany and none have them either, so I am hoping someone on the forum may be sitting on one. It's amazing that an item as small as this can render a product useless. I've even tried using Marklin spare tyres however they are slightly thinner and the loco doesn't run correctly. Can someone please help.

Greg, a photo always helps, may be another rubber tyre from another manufacturer would fit but unless one can see either the original tyre or the wheel it should fit into it.

Greg Greg, when you say 'thinner', do you mean the width of the tyre (too narrow side-to-side within the grove), or the depth/profile ie the 'height' of the tyre being too low in the grove? (if that makes sense) |

The thickness of the rubber, i.e. when the tyre is on the wheel, the groove in the wheel to support the tyre is deeper than the thickness of the rubber, and the wheel isn't correctly sitting on the tracks.
Taking a photo would be very difficult as the image is very small. The thickness of the rubber tyre needs to be about another 0.5mm thicker.

I "googled" Railad 0802 and found this: Razis ModellbahnserviceThe page in the link has the tires at the very bottom and it says 'lagernd' which means they have stock. I don't have any experience with that shop, but it may be worth a try. Hope this helps, Harold.

since the Märklin one is thinner, I suggest wrapping enough turns of dental floss around the wheel first, then add the tyre. |

Maybe Celon tape cut into the correct width will do the trick instead of dental floss. Celon, thread tape, Plumbers tape. Plumbers are cheaper. we use that tape in our musical instruments to good effect. Marklin tyres will be available forever. !!!!
